We all saw what happened with the .22 rimfire and hoarders.

SO, seeing as we have a fear of who might win the next election ---- what is the next item hoarders will covet.

.22 rimfire is now readily available [ a "bit" higher priced ] so will it again disappear.

Or will it be the dreaded "Green Tip" ammunition that is too dangerous :banghead: for any but the military to own.

Whats your thoughts.

Of course it has to be apolitical as the mods will shut this down if it gets political.

Just name the items and possible reason for its demise.

Ummm, there's no way to know what will happen with ammunition, but you can assume that AR and AK prices will go up.

Ammo, and the means of delivery. (Amongst other things)

That'd be my answer any year, with any candidates.

No stock portfolio is complete without precious metals

I am not going to "hoard" anything. As a matter of fact, I don't plan to put in any extra supplies either.

Everything is nearly back to normal and all people want to do is keep being negative.
Whats your thoughts.
Honestly, sounds like premature worry. :)

I'd like to agree with you about premature worry, but given the history of things, I'm having some trepidation doing so.

Gun owners are often our own worst enemy, hoarding and causing panics due to perceived and potential political turmoil. But in this case, when one candidate in particular is absolutely making gun control a top tier issue, I'm not hedging my bets that she'll be weak and worthless.

I'll be stocking up a little deeper on factory ammo, primers, powder and lead for the 9mm, and factory ammo for the ARs. While I'm at it, I'll likely end up with another stripped lower before November, and probably some body armor, too.

Trying to keep this as non political as possible, I don't have faith in the future as being friendly to the 2A. Not since Scalia passed.

One suspects that every post on every internet gun forum that even mildly suggests that we need to start buying up all the ammo in sight due to the current political situation ... is only further contributing to what started the previous panics in the first place.

Easy the one thing the country has less and less of . American exceptionalism :)

I'm finding it harder and harder to find young people truly proud to be an American . We have a very sad 50+ years ahead of us . :(

I think you mean with .22 rimfire and shooters.

If you want to blame your fellow firearm owners and shooters for what happened, blame the people who destroy the ammunition by shooting it.

Or don't keep pointing your finger at gun owners and shooting and trying to say the "problem" is their fault.

what is the next item hoarders will covet.

I think it makes more sense to ask "what is the next item people will want to use more of than is readily and cheaply available".

.22 rimfire is now readily available [ a "bit" higher priced ] so will it again disappear.

Unfortunately .22lr still isn't really back.

Just name the items and possible reason for its demise.

Whatever people decide they want 'just in case', which is another way of saying anything that people want, but don't have yet

Anything that has been banned or restricted by any state in the country, or maybe even anything that has had a proposed ban or restriction by any state in the country. Also anything that has had, or threatened to have, an extra tax or purchasing hoops placed on it. Also anything that can be used to construct any of those things.

So basically anything that is semi automatic in handgun, rifle, or shotgun as well as parts used to build or repair those firearms (including magazines)....and ammo and components.

If there is something you really want to have, and you don't have it, buy it now and then stop worrying. If you wait until prices go up and supply goes down, stop and wait until things settle again

But in this case, when one candidate in particular is absolutely making gun control a top tier issue, I'm not hedging my bets that she'll be weak and worthless.

No need to beat around the bush, everybody knows exactly who you are referring to.

Hillary, if she is elected, wouldn't get anything done that Obama hasn't.

Remember all the chicken littles fearing for their lives when Obama got elected in 2008? And again in 2012? And after Sandy Hook?

Unless Democrats control the House, the Senate, and POTUS, don't worry about it.

I'll probably buy some powder and primers, mostly because I was well stocked before the last 2 presidental elections and have not had to pay some of those inflated prices. But I'm not sure if I have 8 more years in inventory in stock. 8 years of prairie dog trips can go through some components!

Hillary may very well stack SCOTUS with as many as five Justices over the next 8 years, worst case scenario. Then, it doesn't matter who controls the House, Senate or White House. The shift in SCOTUS will define the next generation of gun ownership in America. Legislation from the Bench, at all levels, will be the key to anti gun policy at the federal level.

I see a Trump presidency as having two negative results with regards to personal and public safety:

1) his rhetoric will create more assaults in America by Americans on other Americans due to their race, religion, gender, sexual preference, ethnicity and other differences. You may therefore witness more violent, public domestic assaults, attacks on mosques, synagogues, black churches, homeless people, gay and transgender people, etc. How a legally armed person responds to an attack with lethal force on a stranger is up to you.

2) Trump's rhetoric regarding international relations may result in a redoubled effort to conduct more terrorist attacks on the United States. Today he is expected to make a "foreign policy" speech so let's see where that goes.

I don't see a Clinton presidency getting over GOP control of the House and Senate regarding 2nd amendment rights. On the other hand, she is seen as a very hawkish sec. state, more willing to use force than Obama, and that can have negative effects at home with terrorists as well.

Oh cool! I was getting worried that nearly a week had passed since the last Chicken Little, "momma can we go a'hordin' now?" thread.

I was thinking I might have to start one.

It's been a solid decade of rapid gains on our side, politically; there's going to be a rebound, with the way our system is set up.

As a reloader I got caught short on powder so I have been restocking over the last few months. I need some more rifle powder before I have my inventory to pre-banic level.

Everything is nearly back to normal and all people want to do is keep being negative.

I just wannna know what happen to Speer Gold Dot 22 magnum ammunition. I have not seen or found a box for a year and half now!

Agreed. Like the last one another panic will be based on politics. The candidates for President are far from certain. Hillary is under a very serious investigation by the FBI as is a contested convention at the RNC.

ACP 's post is the reason threads like this get shut down.

I've yet to buy the reloading supplies I was certain I would need. A President can't ban anything. It takes a Congress - which tried the AWB and then demonstrated it was a complete failure to all LEO's and gov't agencies. .

So the issue is what panic? We've beat back most of the anti gun attempts to control in the face of some significant pressure, including ATF reinterpreting law. In the last eight years there have been not only victories in the last few states holding out against CCW, we've added triple the number allowing Constitutional Carry with no permit.

So, why panic at all when things are better than ever? If Obama did nothing - and he's a dyed in the wool Chicago anti gunner from the old school - what is any other President going to be able to do? Issue more "Presidential Suggestions?"

If anything the tinfoil brigade is it's own worst enemy. They create fear and confusion thru misinformation and denial that we actually do have a say in what Government does. They add a layer of powerlessness to the issue by claiming their vote doesn't count, and then when they do speak out it's usually to the anti gunners benefit with extremist statements.

This post is just one example of it. Hey OP, have you considered you are part of the problem and not part of the solution yet? Posting panic threads on forums doesn't fix anything, it promotes fearmongering as a reaction to a political system that really doesn't do much to control our lives anyway. LOCAL politics does that. It's the STATE laws that constrict CA voters, not Federal ones. I have no problem with owning ARs, an arsenal of ammo (other than justifying the cost to my wife,) I can carry concealed (except at work, where we face the biggest issue,) I can open carry an AR pistol (if it wasn't for the complete lack of public education and the numerous 911 calls it would provoke,) I can even own, carry, and use OTF knives and switchblades. Note that all the issues I have exercising my freedoms are with my NEIGHBORS, not the Federal Government.

It's not Uncle Sam, it's YOU impeding my freedoms. And now somebody is posting up reasons to panic and asking what to horde to make my life harder, along with millions of others who's lives would have been made easier if YOU just wouldn't spread fear and hate.

You WANT panic where there is no reason for it. I thereby nominate panic threads to the banned list which include politics, the end of the world as we know it, and zombies. Panic is for those who don't have a clue about our political system and who don't participate in a positive manner anyway.

Go line up at Walmart on Tuesday morning 7AM sharp and talk panic with the other out of touch oldsters fretting over the future they never tried to build. Me, I'm 63 and I recognize it's actually a lot better than the country I could have grown old in. I get to carry, shoot, and use things in a responsible manner which I was told were forbidden fruit. Well, they aren't and panic didn't make that happen.

7.62*39 and 7.62*54 owing to the embargo,

G2 RIP ammo owing to a lack of understanding of penetration success,

9mm owing to the DOD and FBI hoarding it over the switch,

Tin Foil battle packs owing to the populace,

And votes for pro 2A candidates, because they are always in short supply.

I do not beleive "Hoarding" is at all High Road. Nothing wrong with having something put away for a rainy day,But, hoarding is another thing. Hoarding implys greed and obsession , In my humble opinion.

What hoarding are you referring to?

Personally, I have been building up a solid supply of lead. It isn't so much that I am worried about the next buying panic. It is the fact that my sources of inexpensive lead are drying up and it seems to be consistently going up in price where I am at.

I also won't be a bit surprised, given a Hillary presidency, to see more aggressive attempts to regulate ammunition through the EPA and the fear campaign against lead.
