Okay, so I probably won't be believed but I swear this happened to me last night. I was shooting my 1911 and the guy two lanes down on my left was shooting a 5.7. Well, I changed mags and was about to release the slide when I felt something hit my pistol. I looked down and one of his cases had gone straight into the ejection port, just perfectly. It was just laying there on top like it belonged. I had to call the guy over, it was a hoot! In all my years I have never had anything like that happen.

Wow! You should go buy a lottery ticket!:)

I've never had anything that weird happen when shooting.

I was at a range some years ago when my neighbor had a failure to feed with his .44 Automag. I looked at his gun and the chamber looked clear, but then I noticed a fine line of brass around the chamber. At first I thought the case head had blown, but the gun showed no damage and the brass line was thin.

Further checking showed that the obstruction in the chamber was a fired case, inserted backwards into the chamber. The only thing we could figure was that the previous round had fired normally, the case ejected straight up (normal for an Automag), then the recoiling gun caught up with the case and the case flew into the chamber.

(In case you are not aware of the .44 Automag cartridge, it is simply a rimless .44 Magnum, so it will fit into the chamber either way. Still, the incident was so weird that I have never forgotten it.)

My wife had one eject straight up and land behind the lens of her eyeglasses burning her eyelid! Good thing she blinked

That has happened to me before too. OUCH!

I've had one go down my shirt collar and get wedged on my collar bone. Burned me good.

At a range, spent cases can and do go anywhere and everywhere.

Once at an indoor range I had a shell from an adjacent lane find its way completely around the partition separating us, bounce off the ceiling, curl underneath the bill of my baseball cap, and find a way around my wrap-around safety glasses until finally coming to rest beneath my left eye. I wear that little semicircular burn scar with pride.

Having been shooting for some time and witnessed quite a few interesting things with brass myself and also owning a FN 57 and knowing how they like to throw brass, I'd believe it :)

I was shooting with a buddy. We were both shooting a lot of rounds at a moving target when his gun malfunctioned with a stove pipe. He had a Blazer aluminum case stove pipe. The problem was, he was shooting Federal brass cased ammo. I was shooting the Blazer.

I think that counts as a Type IX malfunction, LOL.

I was shooting my 10mm Longslide 1911 and in between magazines I felt something warm on my chest. It turns out that a spent cartridge had landed on top of the cap of the pen in my shirt pocket with the pen in the brass (yes, I keep a pen there like a nerd).

It was weird enough that I'll always remember it.

No malfunction, but ejected cases do go someplace. A friend was once shooting an FN 49 in 8mm with German APT ammo. He had the gas escape shut off. One of his cases stuck, mouth first almost 1/4 inch into the bark of a nearby pine tree! Apparently they made those rifles so you could nail the enemy in front with bullets and the cases would get the ones trying to sneak around the right flank.

Nope, not buying it; five-sevens don't throw their brass that far ;)

(seriously, mine politely places it about 6ft directly to my right in a neat 3ft wide pile)

Knew a young lady, years ago, who was keen on shooting, but did not get to go often enough. So, whenever our schedules intersected, it was Range Day. We always left with a selection of items to shoot. And, given our somewhat odd schedules, we often had the range to ourselves. All good.

One day we were out shooting. I was doing something down on the rifle end of the line. Probably fiddling with a micro-adjuster for the sight on a 1803. All of a sudden, I notice a commotion down the line. Bunch of hopping and twisting and being suddenly and very completely topless. With an excellent use of sailor vernacular about the 9mm casing which had gone cleavage diving.
Things were sorted back out, which was apt as more poepl had showed up to shoot.
