Just like the title says. I've sold some personal guns lately and I'm looking to replace them. Here is the first rule: you can't suggest "more ammo, reloading components, and training". Those options are off the table. It doesn't have to be just one gun either, it can be more than one.

Here are some of my initial thoughts:

1. Some kind of non-AR15 SBR to add to my trust before 41F takes effect. Already have an AR lower SBR'd.

2. Kriss Vector 9mm pistol. Could SBR and accomplish the previous goal at the same time. I have a TON of 33rnd Glock mags that I could use with it already.

3. CZ 527 in 22 Hornet just because I love the 527 and I've always wanted a 22 Hornet. Not sure what I'd use it for though.

4. Another deer rifle of some caliber. I only own a 243 and a 270 for deer hunting. The 270 would be my maximum caliber, so something smaller in recoil than the 270.

And that's really about all I can think of right now. I can't think of any 1911s that I want right now. I've either already owned it or just interested in it. I've had the CZ 75 SP01, have plenty of revolvers, and probably have plenty of 22s but I'm a sucker for a nice quality 22 though. So let's hear what you've got.

If it was me I'd get a varmint upper and a really higher end scope. Or if you have a upper a better higher end scope.

Would you consider a PAP or Krink pistol that you can SBR? I have one and it is a blast (pun intended)! The only downside is that it is incredibly loud. This way you have something you can mess with at the range until your Form 1 is approved. Which judging by the influx of people getting in before 41F, might be a long time!

Get a Ruger Old Army percussion revolver and learn the intricacies of shooting a black powder revolver. It will put a grin on you face!

I'd SBR the Kris. Not the most practical thing int he world but if you have all the other guns you need and you just want something to have fun with thats a good choice.

If you dont have a use for the Hornet you still wont have a use for it after you buy it. Not as fun as the SBR Kris. Youve already got deer guns.

Olympus;

Here's a thought that might help you down the .22 Hornet road. Investigate the K-Hornet wildcat version of the basic Hornet. It's not really very wild either. You can find the direct comparison data in Hornady #9. All it is, is a chamber reaming of a factory Hornet barrel. If you fire standard Hornet ammunition, the brass comes out formed to the K-Hornet dimensions. A K-Hornet will allow, depending on the gun, a 45 grain jacketed bullet to get to 3000 fps. This adds quite a bit of versatility to the basic round in many people's experience.

Of course if you don't reload at all, then the point is moot, but the 527 in factory Hornet is a gem also. Counting gun, glass, and possibly the chamber reaming, you could still be at or under your stated budget. The chamber reaming should most definitely not be a major expense. Many, if not most, smiths should already have the reamer, & the set-up & lathe time should be well under an hour. This is one to get several quotes on if you're willing to consider it. Another question to ask would be how many times has the reamer been used. I don't know about where you are, but around here (Montana) the job can be done by a thoroughly competent smith with excellent equipment for well under a hundred bucks.

Although you say you have a lot of revolvers a S&W with pinned barrel and recessed chambers would be at the top of my list. 3 T's (target trigger, target sights and target hammer) if it has adjustable sights. No internal lock.

Old S&W revolvers are a sure bet to increase in value and desirability.

Other gun will be a Beretta 92A1 or a M-9 (or M-9A3). The demand (and sadly the price) for Beretta 92 series is increasing.

Couple of thoughts (after I got over just suggesting you send the $1500 to me):

Another deer rifle: try a .257 Roberts. Mine is in a Ruger 77 Ultra Light and is, I think, perhaps more capable that the .243. Light, short, soft recoil. Maybe you could find one in a Ruger No. 1(if they made them, I don't know).

Second idea: Not a gun, but depending on your hobbies/activities, can I suggest a pair of really good binoculars. I mean Zeiss, Swarovski, that sort of thing. I was lucky to find a great deal on a Zeiss at a going-out-of-business sale. I have other good glasses but these are special. At my house they are saved mostly for deer hunting, but they made it on an Alaska cruise. There really is a difference between good and really good glass.

I've found that sometimes I get more pleasure out of stuff I use with guns, instead of more guns.

LOL I am in the same boat.... (Also have a wad of cash to spend on a new gun, yet cannot figure out exactly what I want. :banghead: ) So I am of no help to you.

Other than saying whatever one your more apt to use on a regular basis.

You could get a nice lever action in .357/.44/.45 if you don't have one already. They are a lot of fun for me, and could be used for deer also.

I suggest a 1903A3. I have one and it is so much fun to shoot that old war horse. With my old eyes the peep sight is so easy for me to use. In it's day it was the assault rifle to have.

I'm really thinking one should be a rifle of some kind. I have two scopes just collecting dust, a Zeiss 3-9×50 and a Vortex Viper 4.5-14×44.

Sounds like you already have guns, and since I can't suggest ammo, I'm thinking maybe some silver, or a Honda generator, or a month's worth of food, and a dozen tanks of propane, and a couple high quality water filters, and.........anything but another frivolous toy.
OR.........just stash the cash. You may soon be glad you did.

Don't listen to the voice of paranoid practicality. Buy another gun!

Since you mentioned 22 Hornet, and I just read a "Truck gun" article in a Field and Stream, here's an idea. They had a M77/22 in 22 hornet with an integrally suppressed barrel from http://srtarms.com/ The barrel they listed in the magazine cost $700 + the tax stamp, so thats enough to scare most people away, but its a pretty sweet set up. It just looks like any other bull barrel bolt action rifle, and is the regular length. I've always heard before that you can't pin and weld a suppressor to a short barrel to make it 16 inches, but this seems to be doing just that. I'm not familiar with integrally suppressed barrels, so I'm unsure whether it counts as part of the barrel length or not, but I'm assuming it does. Oh and the website doesn't have a barrel for 22 hornet anywhere I can see, but it was this month's Field and Stream, may be a new item.

My two choices for your $1500 would be a CZ527 in .22 Hornet for $631 and a CZ550FS in 6.5 Swede for $761.

IMHO there have been a couple of very good suggestions. A pair of high end binoculars like Swaros or Zeiss will serve you well and as the op pointed out (correctly) great glass is much better than average glass. Also, the 6.5x55 Swede is a great multi use caliber. Good luck with your shopping.

CZ Scorpion Evo 3 Pistol ($750) + SBR/922 kit ($200). I have shot one a couple times, and it is pretty nice.

Seems to be in line with your tastes, and comes out much cheaper than the Kriss for a quality gun.

Do you have any suppressors for your pistols/rifles? Investing in another can wouldn't be a bad use of the $$$.
