454190 bullet?

This is one of about 1,000 I have in a box labeled 250 grains for .45 Colt. Micrometer says its diameter is .454. Is it safe to say this is a 454190 bullet?

BTW, if anyone has a good quality 454190 mold for sale at a decent price, please PM me.

The bullet you have is the classic 45 Colt bullet, but if you want a mold, then look at the 454424. That mold is the SWC Keith bullet. Much better performance than the old style round nose bullet.

The projectile you show is NOT a Lyman 454190. It is an R-P factory swaged 45COLT projectile.

Where might I find loading data for this? Lyman reloading manual 49th edition gives reloading data for a 454190 bullet.

A swaged lead bullet will be softer than most cast bullets. Stick with milder loads.

What would be considered milder loads? Perhaps use loads as published for 454190, but do not exceed 50% of published loads for this bullet??????

Loading will depend on bullet diameter and the gun. Since these are likely big enough to fill the bore, Start with a lower end load and work up to about 900 fps. If they don't lead the barrel and your gun is one of the newer, stronger, designs you can go higher. Use the standard loads in your Lyman book and you should be okay.
