Are you a shooter or collector?

Bit of both.

There are guns I shoot all the time, and there are guns I've collected that I haven't fired in years.

I no longer feel the need to shoot everthing I own because I don't want to clean them all.

In my case, I am a collector in the sense of a shooter who keeps buying stuff with no good place to shoot. This has been happening over time.

I am not a "collector" in the sense of trying to complete a set or certain theme, for example. I also do not collect guns for their value and whether or not it should increase. I don't have any NIB safe queens that are not intended to ever be fired.

Case in point. I've been looking for a decent Enfield for some time now and finally found one I'm looking for. A very nice, numbers matching, low bolt face number No. 4 Mk 1 that I'll be picking up on Sunday. Do I need it? Not even slightly. Do I want it? Hell yes!

AFAIK I don't own a gun that I haven't fired. I guess I'm a collector of S&W 10mm autos because I'm actively seeking one of each model, but I have also fired all of the ones I own multiple times.

So I guess that make me a shooter.

I don't have any ''collector'' type firearms. Some classics, but nothing rare of real valuable.

I shoot everything I have. Some more than others. I bought some classic S&W revolvers, that's about as far as my collecting goes.

A very nice, numbers matching, low bolt face number No. 4 Mk 1 ... that passes a proper headspace check?

A dozen years ago a LOT of Nº4s came on the market, many of them nice-looking and with matching SNs ... many of them also sported #1 boltheads because the more valuable #3s (mostly) that the last armourers had installed were removed & replaced with cheap & available #1s.

Just be sure to check the headspace on that rifle.

You may already be aware of this. I am adding the info just in case you are not. ;)

Mostly for shooting-but my five Enfields (no. 4 & 5), have not been used in over a year. Woops, did not see the previous remarks:eek: Two of my Enfields (matching bolt\wrists) will be sold FTF, in west TN only.

Recently sold three surplus handguns, four rifles to pay for a different type of Sport Utility Rifle;) and its cousins.

As my grown son (with baby) told me that he has no interest in sports shooting, why keep All of the guns which are no longer used?
Imagine how little cash my wife (who studied voice) would accept from pawn shops for what she knows Nothing about---

Both. I collect rifles and pistols used in Finnish Civil War, Winter War and Continuation War. I'm a certified collector, which is required in my country in order to own certain types of guns, like pocket pistols.

Definitely a shooter. I don't own enough to qualify as a collector. I have a range of firearms, 1 firearm for each niche (although the lines are a little blurry). If I was a collector, I would not be down to roughly 1/4 of the firearms I have ever owned :D

I collect knowledge about firearms, and their workings. I am nowhere near an expert, I simply enjoy learning about the history, differences, skills, and processes of this hobby.

I am both.

I love to collect and I love to shoot. There is only one firearm in the picture I have never fired and don't intend to. I love my C and R license and the CMP North Store. Please ignore the spots on the carpet. It has since been torn up and was the reason I decided to take everything out and take the pic. These are just my C and R long guns. From left to right
1903 Springfield 1919 Mark 1 (my grandfather's rifle)
1927 1903 Springfield (my grandfather's rifle),
1903A3 Springfield 1943 Remington manufactured, correct and purchased that way.
M91/30 PU Mosin Nagant 1943 Izhevsk, one force matched part barrel bands Tula, scope is original to rifle and serial numbered to it as is the mount. Correct stock and all other markings including the serial number indicate a true PU. Not a faux rifle. Fun to shoot. :) Purchased from AIM a few years back. A Molot marked import
1944 Springfield M1 Garand
1945 Winchester M1 Garand, a WIN-13
1954 International Harvester M1 Garand
1955 Harrington Richardson M1 Garand, correct and unfired from what I can tell. The only rifle I don't shoot out of the bunch. Purchased that way a few years back.
1944 Inland M1 Carbine
