I have a 617ss Taurus that my wife has confiscated as she loves it and is going to use it as her CCW. I really liked it as it was a great pocket carry gun. I loved the fact it was a 7 shot .357 in a very small package. I see Taurus does not make it any more. Any else make a 7shot snubbie? It can even be a .38 as that will work just fine for her.

Taurus® still makes the 617: http://www.taurususa.com/product-details.cfm?id=260&category=Revolver&toggle=&breadcrumbseries=
Additionally Taurus® offers a similar 7 shot in 38 Special you can consider: http://www.taurususa.com/product-details.cfm?id=289&category=Revolver&toggle=&breadcrumbseries=

The 817 38 is several ounces lighter.

I think dawei is right. I don't check the Taurus sight often, but I remember seeing 7 and 8 shot Tauruses recently...new ones, I believe. Check gunbroker for used versions. Best wishes.

I had a 617 "tracker" for a while. I liked the gun, but it developed timing issues. I thought that the lugs were smaller and closer together in the 7 shot compared to a six shooter. I thought it made made the timing more complicated.

Funny, I have a 617 I was considering selling...
