The new software

I started visiting forums back when UBB was the big thing; then most of them migrated to vB; now that THR has migrated to XenForo, I feel as if another Internet epoch has elapsed.

Looks pretty good so far. Thank you for all the hard work.

The blog shown during the migration suggested old links on other sites would be lost if this site moved to HTTPS.

There are ways to have http:// connections automatically redirected to https:// connections. So, http links on other sites will map to the same URL, but encrypted.

e.g. If you copy/paste this into a browser, it will appear but the protocol will change automatically to https

May be worth while to investigate that.

Thanks for your time and efforts in running the site.

Digger,

Thank Derek. He's the engine and engine room here. The rest of us are just the Entertainment Directors.

Great so far! Thanks for the work. I have figured out most of it that I used but how do we tell if we have posted to that particular thread already? The arrow thingy on the old program is what I am talking about. I see no difference on the ones I know I have posted on.

As an older person, born before 1950, I don't suffer change well. More crap to learn, with little to no benefit for me personally. Don't build a system around my preferences, though, I'm sure I don't represent the majority of your users. After I've had a chance to learn the new rules and figure out if it's really more difficult for me to do the things I normally do, I may change my mind. If not, I'll just move on to one or more of the many other gun related websites.

Look at the threads in a forum list. If you've posted in that thread, you'll see your avatar as a small box on the icon for the thread.

This may be in the works as time goes by but I've noticed on some older posts that it just said the day of the week and NOT the date. As some of these threads can cover several days (or they can be a "zombie" thread), putting the date of the post would be helpful.
Also, at the bottom left corners of each post, while the font size doesn't need to change, a darker color with better contrast would be desirable.

Do you mean where your signature appears in a lighter grey?

I think that "fade" is designed to help separate posts

I think we'll see that as the post get older...pass a week

From what I've been reading about Xenforo, the number of replies per page is a global option and not adjustable per user. Is there an option you can add to "View All" replies in a given thread, on a single page?

Just testing the drag and drop photos. This one hosted on google photos seems to work fine.

Anytime things change it takes a minute to get used to it.
There is a lot to like about this new system. I love the fact that we have avatars now and that we have a "like" feature.

I haven't played with the photo posting yet, but I will do that shortly after I get caught up on some school work.
Thanks to the admins who have put work into this.

No matter the operating system or the appearance of the site, it is the same group of wonderful people and that is what makes it THR.

I just want to say it looks great, functions fine so far, and I appreciate THR so very much!

The white background is a bit harsh. I like the lettering as it is perfect! Could the background be softened a bit? The Green theme in the original update looked very good for the borders.

The pale yellow in the type reply boxes is great for a softer background.

At the bottom of the page, click on default style, and change to THR test.
