Wait until you see the atrocious gun control "push" Obama makes before he leaves office. Including the U.N. small arms treaty.

This lame duck isn't dead yet, and the amount of gun garbage he will be dredging-up will fill an entire football stadium...conjecture, of course, but if any of his lawless pursuits mean anything, beware.

Obama can't pass any laws so all his BS Executive Orders will be undone right away. He can continue to pardon convicted criminals and will probably pardon hundreds if not thousands more before he's flushed down the hole. Might even pardon Clinton to protect himself.

Maybe I'm a cynic, but I have a hard time believing any of these things will happen. It will require some heavy lifting to get these through.

So far we have only won the first of many hard battles.

The Hearing Protection Act which is already a bill I can actually see going through IF there's enough of a nudge. The importation of arms (hopefully the Garands and Carbines) shouldn't be difficult either.

Nobody said there are currently any EOs pertaining to gun control. r1derbike said "Wait until you see Obummer's gun control push..." and I responded that it won't matter because he can't pass any laws and EOs (his only option) can instantly be undone by the new president.

I'll believe it when I see it, but considering we aren't even two days after the election and he's already talking about national reciprocity and no magazine limits, I'm feeling optimistic. I'm even more optimistic considering that this could actually happen since we now have the house and senate. We'll know soon it seems.

And I will wait and see what he DOES DO in the first 100 days in office. That will tell a lot about the next 4 years to come.

If OSHA administered firearm laws and rules, suppressors would be mandatory.

Kind of click-baity there...from "Laws he will sign" to "Laws he can sign"...then you read the article and read phrases like "should be passed within 60 days of him taking office."

I would LOVE to see suppressors removed from the NFA, national concealed-carry, etc. etc. just as much as anyone else here...but I'm still a little skeptical, it all sounds too good to be true. I sincerely hope I am wrong and that we roll through the first quarter of 2017 with suppressors off the NFA.

I have high hopes of at least the Hearing Protection Act getting signed into law. A small step in the right direction.

Along with the Hearing Protection Act, we need to repeal the Hughes Amendment, and try for the NFA as well. Hey, nothing ventured.....

I don't think we'd be able to do away with background checks even if we had a supermajority in both houses. The electorate doesn't weigh in much on a lot of gun issues, but that's one that the extreme majority has an opinion on, and they favor them. Even a lot of pretty pro gun people who fully support national reciprocity and suppressor deregulation aren't comfortable with the idea of violent parolees being able to stroll in and buy any brand new weapon they want cash & carry.

It's more an issue of our justice system than anything, truthfully. We let people out who shouldn't be.

It would also be a failure of the system in our democratic republic to force legislation through that an overwhelming majority does not want. SCOTUS can rule on constitutional grounds, regardless of popular opinion (it is in fact their sworn duty), but the legislature is supposed to listen to it's constituents. When they don't, you end up with public policy like ACA. Obama set the precedent for ignoring the electorate with that one. We can't engage in the same kind of criminal legislating and cement that sort of policy making as a way of governing.

However, I think that having valid CCW permits used in place of a NICS background check nationally could be accomplished fairly easily.

We won't see NFA repealed, but we may see it whittled down to the point where only machine guns and destructive devices are regulated. It's my realist opinion that we will never get MGs and DDs title I. Most of the country would have a fit over the idea of someone being able to buy a belt fed machine gun or 105mm howitzer the same way they buy a .30-06 or Remington 870. Remember, the majority of people in this nation, including many gun owners, don't even realize that you can legally own those things.

Trump has to deal with Congress, and the real issue is the RINO's who didn't support him. They are the 5th column who will have to be constantly wheedled and curried to get anything done, and it will likely mean pork barrel projects for their districts or other favors.

Nothing has changed and we need to enter into this with our eyes open.

There needs to be an executive order that stops the ATF from making up their own interpreting of the laws. They do go by executive orders when they are handed down.

That article reads more like a wish list of five back-burner items the author wants the new admin to act on, rather than anything the new admin has announced it will act on. I am not saying it won't act on them, I just don't want to read too much into that article.

The more things change, the more they stay the same. Still, I am quite a bit happier with this outcome than with the alternative.

Gotta love the waffling of the conservative media. Which is it? Is it that he WILL make the changes or that he CAN makes the changes? HUGE difference.

I really liked the subtitle about making silencers "legal." They are legal, LOL.

Of course, that would only be in the workplace. Orange vests, safety glasses, and hardhat would also be required. Oh, and they would still require additional hearing protection as suppressors often don't actually bring down the noise levels below where hearing damage can occur.

No, you're not the only one. It's a form of registration. There is something called the BID http://www.keepandbeararms.com/information/XcIBPrintItem.asp?ID=2020 which should have been considered instead of the current system if the govt. truly was only interested in safety rather than registration.
