LCR in .327 Fed Mag…

I've got one. I shoot the 85 grn AE and Federal Hydra-Shok, the 100 grn AE and Speer Gold Dot, Buffalo Bore 100 and 130 grn. I pretty much stopped carrying the Sig 238 and 938 and now carry the LCR almost exclusively. The Speer 100/115 grn give near .357 performance, the Hydra-Shoks give you plenty of power in a very controllable package.

It has a lot of power, but if I want to let a newer shooter try it I can load .32 H&R or .32 S&W Long or .32 S&W and it'll be nearly as mild as .22 LR. You'll love it.

I have a Telor Shark Skin holster that I slip into my pocket about 80% of the time. Other times I carry at 4 o'clock. I quickly forget it's in my pocket. The Shark Skin holster allows me to do both and it never slips out.

I have a LCR 357 and pocket carry it sometimes in a Nemesis holster. Conceals well and isn't too heavy.

I just bought a 327 Federal and it's now in the 10 day waiting period.

Looking forward to comparing the two.

I'll post my impressions when I can get both to the range and try them side-by-side.

Same here. Have had it about a year now and can't say enough good things about it. Retired my SP 101 .357 snubbie from EDC when I bought it. Practice with .32 S&W Longs and carry the .32 H&R Mag. Hydra Shok and/or .327 Speer 100 gr or 115 gr. For me the only downside is no one in my area stocks .327 or .32 Magnum so it's on line only but there's plenty of it out there. With my Mich Rosen holster the whole rig weighs right at 21 ounces.

I think my next impulse handgun purchase might be the .327 lcr.

The 4" SP101 is a great hiking gun, but the idea of a 6 round snubbie sounds great. I love my 9mm lcr, but having a softer Shooting .32 for bumping around by the lake dock would be great.

Like Alte Schule, I practice with 32 S&W Long and carry 32 H&R Mags.
Flv3r you really can't go wrong with the softer shooting .32 for bumping round by the lake dock.

OP/Hammer, all I can say is I'm completely satisfied with my LCR 327. It's my EDC.

One of the best reasons to go with the .327 Magnum LCR as opposed to .38 Special/.357 Magnum versions imo. I've decided to get a .327 LCR and retire the Colt Cobra and Smith & Wesson Model 12 six shot, .38 Special revolvers that I'm now relying on for concealed carry.

My S&W M296 Airweight Centennial is physically a bit larger since it is an L frame. But basically the same weight since it runs 18.5 ounces unloaded. I did also put larger grips on mine so the size/bulk category goes to the LCR. The Ruger does hold six rounds. The S&W only five... but those five are .44 Special and that revolver loves the CorBon DPX 200 grain Barnes all copper HP's. They are loaded "hot enough" to do the job but they aren't pushing the envelope like the .327... I'm sure recoil is comparable and the muzzle blast and flash would be much better in the .44 Special.

I'm sure I would like one of those LCR's. I'm sure I would enjoy playing with it and reloading for it. I've always loved .32 H&R Mag in my little Single Sixes. But would I really make it a primary carry gun? I doubt it... but I can see the value of a smaller little revolver like that for the "quick trip down the block to the drug store" kind of thing. My normal "gun when I don't need a gun" is also my normal BUG... NAA Mini Master, four inch barrel, .22 WMRF. Tucked into the inside pocket of a jacket and you forget all about it.

Just talking out loud... not trying to change anybody's mind. My normal primary carry is an HK P2000 LEM in .357 SIG so I'm not totally against higher velocity and more bullets. Although 12+1 is more than double the LCR.

One concern I would have is hearing loss.

Never tried a 327, but would like to, all the information I've heard has been good, and if you can get ammo on line then the gun shop isn't a problem...I have four LCR's and find them to be great revolvers...

What calibers do you have?

22/22mag/38 special/38 special LCRX, Every one is a good shooter, I stayed away from the 357 mag, just because I think it is a little too much for this size gun, not that it wouldn't handle it, just not comfortable to shoot, the 327 on the other hand might be worth while...

With factory 100gr loads I typically see 1290-1310 out of a 2" LCR. With handloads you can crank out about 1380 from the LCR and a 100gr GDHP. That's about the best you can get with 100gr without going to over max loads. If you want faster, you can easily push an 85gr pill over 1400 from the LCR. The Gold dot in factory form is an excellent round in .327 though. I've tested it in gel and got repeatable 14-15" penetration, a nasty wound cavity and regular expansion through a pair of Levi's and an old down comforter. Even the HydraShok low recoil stuff was decent, penetration over 13" regularly. Handloads cranking the GDHP up to max loads show wicked expansion but penetration drops to 11.5-12" so the factory load velocity is better IMO.

I just wanted to add a couple of things to my earlier post. Buffalo Bore offers +P rated .32 H&R Mag in 100 gr. CJHP and 130 gr. Hardcast. Buffalo Bore claims they both have a ME of 375 Ft Lbs and a MV of 1300 FPS which is .327 Mag. territory. I have a box of both and they are real fire breathers but at 1$ per round I don't shoot them that often.
I currently have two LCR's. The .327 and a LCRx "3 in .38 Special which is an outstanding revolver. I did have one in .22 Mag but found the rimfire trigger way to stiff. When I replaced the springs I started getting light primer strikes so I put the original springs back and ran about 400 rds. through it over a six month period but it never would loosen up. Used it as part of a trade for a real nice S&W Model 25 4" Mountain Gun in .45 LC so it worked out ok.
