Asking a question like which 9mm is best is like asking about the best anything. You are only going to get suggestions of guns the person likes, not an objective analysis. (understandable)

IMO you need to make a list of everything you want in a handgun then look for a gun that fills the check boxes. Then look and see if the reviews say it's a good reliable handgun and you're done.

Springfield XD or Ruger SR
.................okay okay the CZ 75 is in the running too

By all means, avoid budget pistols such as Cobra, Jimenez, Glock, and Hi Point. There are better pistols available.
Interesting how you put glock in the same category as cobra, Jimenez and Hi point. hahahahahahaha! Come on man!

OP didn't specify a pistol, come to think of it. The SDK silenced rifle is not in current production and is prohibitively expensive, but the Beretta CX4 Storm is available below $700 and has more long-range accuracy potential than any of the pistols I've seen listed in this thread,

Never shot one but I have a couple friends that speak very highly of them. I certainly couldn't see any Beretta for around $700 out shooting a classic 226, just not much of a chance of that happening in any fantasy you might have.

Hey, I didn't remember the thing existed until I searched for 9mm carbines. No worries.

Mostly because it's the most common handgun on the market...

Again, the most common, ergo the most popular because of its positive attributes. A company doesn't sell the most of anything if it's not generally thought of as being among the best.

Glock has its well-earned reputation, but it's a bit like having a dinner. If only the nutritional aspect is considered, a protein shake, a couple of multivitamin pills and a source of fiber would beat a perfectly cooked chateaubriand every time. Some people just prefer the steak, no matter how much more expensive and less optimally nutritious it might be. It's all about something as vain and unnecessary as a subjective experience of flavour. If "the best" was just about popularity, mac and cheese would be the best dish in the world. ;)

if I were to per say be buying a 9mm for less than $700 what gun would you, the responder suggest and what price point would you say it's worth?
For $700?? you'll get a lot of offers on this sight for 9mms with a $700 budget!

I consider Glock to be a fine rib eye.
I've been trying to find flavor in them since their introduction and failed to find any. Maybe there's something wrong with me but as always, there's no accounting for taste. One man's meat is another man's poison and some genuinely don't really care for either. The only way to find out is to try one out oneself.

Glock 19. Perfect Warranty. Light Wt. Did I already mention Perfect Warranty? Resale value. CC under a fig leaf. Glock will repair it forever.

Exactly

It drives me nuts when people ignore this.

If one were "best" we'd all agree and be done. Instead we're all different and what's best for you may or may not be best for me.

For example recently I decided to get a new carry gun. The owner of my LGS recommend the S&W Shield. It fit his hands great. In my larger hands the Springfield XDS felt much better. Is one better than the other? I don't think so. But the XDS is better for me.

Even with that though it's not perfect. It's too big to pocket carry. In that case the PF9 I've had for years is much better.

And both aren't as nice (to me) to shoot at the range as a full size. I'm eyeing the M&P Pro 2.0

So yea what's best depends on a lot of factors and one should do some homework to find what's best for them and their needs

I have a Beretta M9 which I truly love. I take it to the range a lot, and I have yet to ave it fail. I put it right next to my Colt 1911. The price point is around $600.
