I almost bought it, but read some negative stuff about the action on some forums. Others say it's smooth as silk. Price is high, but so is a Cobra in 38, or a S&W 340. They are all high so is 9 hundred too high, Kimber never seems to lower their prices, the gun is a nice weight, and the fact that it hols 6 and is rounded off "snag free" is appealing.
After checking with the listed Kimber dealers on the sight and Buds, the lower end one "brushed stainless" is available online only, I called 6 dealers and only 1 who had just got only one piece in, had any in stock. Shoot straight and Lotus had waiting lists of a dozen folks and are charging over MSRP. I am deciding if I even want to go this route, or pick up a CDP Ultra for the same price in 45.

All of Kimber's other guns are good. I guess they can make a revolver. I know my wife wants one.

I handled one that someone else owned in gun shop. It was very well made, action was as good, or better than my 442 with Apex spring kit. It was a tad heavy compared to what I'm used to, but, it should be considering its stainless and carries an extra round. If I was flush with cash, it would be on my list.

My only complaint is the Ruger style cylinder release, and thats only because I'm used to the S&W style.

Be patient, Kimber will come out with more model options and there will be better market availablity once the newness wears off.

It is gotta-have-it money but not a gotta-have-it gun.

I second that. Kimber also does not have the best reputation for quality control; some people have great Kimbers while others don't.

Since it looks like you're going for a CCW revolver, I'd go with a J frame S&W or a Ruger (LCR or SP series). Both have been making quality revolvers for a long time.

Also, keep in mind that out of a 2" barrel .357 isn't going to give you any significant increase in performance over .38 spl + P. Just more recoil.

Happy shopping!

I have had one for about a month. Fit, finish, and trigger exceed any of my post 1980 S&W's. The wt. loaded is about the same as my 640 Pro and it is virtually the same size. Speaking as the owner of a number of Smith snubbies from regular production and the Performance Center, if I had to keep one, the Kimber wins. I cant speak to Kimber's customer service because I have only owned this revolver and a Ultra Carry CDP which functioned without fail regardless of which handload I tried.

Don't be fooled by the cost. Right now the standard version runs under $800. Literally every Smith I have owned needed some trigger work so add that into the near $755 for the S&W 640 Pro at my LGS.

I agree, I would like to see a 3" barrel but a hammer is not necessary as the K6S trigger is super smooth with no stacking and it will stage very easily giving the shooter the ability to fire it almost like a SA gun. Some j-frame holsters will work but the Kimber's trigger guard is slightly different shape so plan on a new holster unless you are lucky. Here it is next to my 640 Pro which was my primary carry gun until........

really slick looking gun for sure. Love the lines of it and the sights. I can understand why people like the concealed hammer for carry, but if I was going to carry a revolver it would be a smith air weight at over a half pound lighter. For me to be interested it would have to have about a 3-4" barrel and an exposed hammer though. Just my opinion, obviously others disagree.

So you did get the CT version. I saw one available online, does the gun come in a polished and a brushed finish or are they all the same except for the 1800 dollar version? The different pictures, "even on buds", make it seem like there are 2 or 3 different finishes. I would spring for the Nickel , only because my first Carry gun was a Nickel plated Detective Special back in 1972, and I really loved that gun.I lost it during a Home Invasion, in 79, that I have spoken about before.I would like to replace it with a similar gun, perhaps the K6, is the perfect replacement. I honestly don't see the Cobra as the second coming of the DS. I like a Nickel or blue revolver, always have. Also don't like fiber optic sights, especially at night on my carry. So replacing the Cobra's sights, grips, and polishing it to a high luster finish is work I am not prepared to do. I know the Kimber has a model wit NS, and wodden grips, so it's more like what I am looking for.

Compact and 6 shot capacity. I think Kimber hit the mark they were aiming for. Like others I would like to see a 2.75 or 3 inch barrel offered and I would to see them offer it in .327 Federal, just because.

I would personally get the new Colt's Cobra. An actual new production snake gun and wear the historic pony. The Kimber is a nice gun and I've handled them but it does not a snake make.

@george burns
I believe brushed stainless finish is standard. I paid just over a grand for the gun with factory lasergrips. The grips alone run about $400 so depending how you figure it the gun is not that far from S&W pricing on their high end models.
I have not yet seen the Colt Cobra but I will also own that gun.
As someguy2800 said, the Kimber does weigh 23oz. Quite a change from my 11.4 oz. 340pd.
