CZ 75 SP-01 vs M&P 9 M2.0?

I have the new M&P2.0 in 40 long-slide and, while I like the pistol well enough overall, I am very underwhelmed by what I am told is a much much better trigger than the first Gen. The 75 trigger is better imho.

Two completely different guns. I personally would pick the CZ. However that's just because I like the looks, feel, etc.. of the CZ over the M&P and has nothing to do with any sort of fault of the M&P.

Have to go along with what C-grunt wrote; I personally prefer the CZ 75 design over that of the S&W M&P models. That's just my preference; you should go with the one that works the best for you.

I again prefer the CZ. Of all the polymer pistols, I'm more interested in the M&P than most. I'm just a bigger fan of the CZ line. I'll take a SAO SP-01!

Some years back I went looking for a compact double stack 9mm. Looked at all the polymer frame, striker fired offerings, going with the Ruger SR9c as the one that fit me the best. At the same time I was at the gun shop checking out the other guns I happened to notice they had three CZ guns in the case: a P01, a P06, and a P07. Came back a week later and bought the P01. Thought about the P07 but liked the P01 so much more.

Note the 5", M&P 2.0 models are the only versions in the entire M&P line-up that use the loaded chamber lever on the top of the slide. Make sure that's something you want before going that route.

For my money, the PO 1 is leaps and bounds ahead of any striker fired pistol. Both in function and ergonomics.

I was in a similar boat, but looking for a full size 9mm. I was in the gun store and noticed they had a 40sw SP01 tactical, and a stainless 75B. The trigger and ergos were fantastic. We were comparing them to a number of Sig's and HK's among some other guns and me and my buddy were both real impressed. I knew there was a number of different models though and settled on the 75B SA and found a great deal on one.
Later when I went looking for a compact I knew I wanted a P01, but found a great deal on a P07, and it just wasn't my cup of tea. So I picked up my 75D Compact with a rail and have been happy ever since.

Depends if you want DA/SA hammer fired or striker fired, steel frame or lighter poly frame, safety or no safety.
I was able to try out the new striker fired pistols at my LGS factory shoot a few weekends back. I like the M&P 2.0 and it seems to be a major improvement over the original version. If you like your Shield I would expect you like the M&P 2.0.
Personally I still like my 9MM PPQ better than any of the other striker fired pistols and would take it over either M&P 2.0 or CZ SP01 if I could only have one but IMO they are all terrific and it boils down to what works best for you.

I'd take the CZ every day of the week and twice on Sunday, over the M&P.

I became a citizen of CZ nation last week so of course I'll say CZ75.... no contest, no question
Depends on the application. If I were looking for something to carry on long hikes or to toss in a glove box and let bang around for months at a time, I'd look at the M&P. If I were more concerned about actual peak shooting performance, I'd get the CZ.... the extra weight and the better trigger are both advantages in that context.

I have the current model Shield, and liked it so much I bought a spare. I also have an SP-01. The CZ is a high quality unit with an excellent trigger. The CZ holds the advantage in that category.
They are two very different guns but for EDC the Shield wins. It's thin, light and concealable.
Both are very accurate. Both are very pleasant to shoot, but for different reasons. If you are considering an eventual resale or trade-in, the SP-01 is more likely to hold its value. Being such a small company (in the US anyway) factory support has been excellent. Of course S&W is good too, but calling them is like calling the Pentagon's switchboard.
I have night sights on both, and recommend the additional expense. I find large dots make target acquisition easier even in daylight, but that might just be me.

When faced with such a decision, do what I do - buy both
Oh and one more thing, safety vs. not, I prefer the decocker option on the CZ, and no manual safety on the M&P. I don't like the added complexity of a safety, but again that's just me. My brain prefers keeping things simple.

I like the way you think V35, but my wife would frown upon adding 2 more for the collection. After considerable debate and back and forth (and several trips to the gun store) I've decided to take my talents to CZ Nation. There's just something about it (Besides everything I've heard about its performance and reliability). Can't wait to take it to the range! Thanks for the wisdom everyone

Both are fine pistols, but I prefer the CZ. I'd pick which ever one feels better in the hand.

Good choice. If I have to choose just one, I would go with the CZ also.
But you wouldn't be adding two to the collection, you'd only be adding one, twice. Logic!
