Ruger Mini-30 Barrel replacement

Send to Ruger. They will replace the barrel and get it back to new condition. Might charge you for the barrel, but more often than not they do the job for free. Ruger has always given me exceptional service, even if a bit slow at times.

I agree with Burt. Ruger has done work for a friend of mine without charge. The gun was second hand. He just sent it in and they fixed it. Wouldn't hurt to try it.

+1 on sending it to Ruger. That said, I had one and didn't think it shot very well even with higher end US ammo, considering the cost of the rifle.

+3 on sending it to Ruger. I bought a used M77Hawkeye African.375Ruger. Rear sight was missing. Sent it back to Ruger for sight replacement.

Ruger convinced me that sight had been removed and barrel holes "WELDED" closed. Would not send it back and warranty it. Offered to replace it and send it back for $385. I still have less than wholesale in it but new barrel is "Magnificent"! Has barrel band sling swivel (original didn't) and has rear express sight. Rifle open sights was spot on zero for my handloads, and is even more accurate than original barrel! With scope remounted, last three shot group I shot at 100yds with 270gr Hornady old stock round nose over 82gr IMR4350 cut a clover leaf.
I'm pleased, and don't have sling swivel stud cutting my finger... for what they did and provided, price was very reasonable. Easily the most accurate Ruger I've ever owned.

I'll join the party. +4 for Ruger.

Not only will Ruger replace the barrel but they will completely go through the gun and replace any worn parts and springs.

You will get back essentially a new gun.

Before you send it off...

Have you shot it? I have an old Mosin wrecked by corrosive ammo
but it still shoots surprisingly well. No need to 'fix' it.

Maybe you already tried some known-good ammo and it sucked. Just asking!

The Mini 30 was never meant to be a bench rest shooter.
I have taken a number of deer with mine
It is a fun rifle to shoot

I agree with you 100%. But it brings up another question (for me at least): Why are they so expensive? I just googled mini 30 price- Buds want $798. Seems a bit steep for a rifle that is so wanting in the accuracy dept.- even if its fun.

Real world price of mini 14 is $678 for .223 I saw at WallyWorld, last week. Considering that a "dog" of a WWII M1 Garand is running $750+/- from CMP, and a "MixMaster" M1 Carbine with a desirable reciever is over $1,000, then a NEW Ruger at ~$700 sounds reasonable.
I've had Ruger Mini14 and Mini30, and neither were accurate enough to be "keepers" but they are decent rifles and fill a niche. There is a lot of machine work and hand fitting that goes into a Garand type action. Neither are cheap, these days.

Goes to show you the beauty of the AR15, now that prices are rational, again.

Any follow up on this? Would like to know if Ruger took care of you.
