LUCAS GUN OIL the name says it all

Sears Roebuck & Co. Household Oil (essentially the store brand of 3-in-1).
And I have the unique experience of having oiled my guns with it* in 1993, putting them in the safe and then suffering neurological problems that kept me from doing anything with my guns except for rare, short inspections from one year to another until 2014 and those guns suffered NO rust of other degradation.
I know that in the chart in one of the other posts, 3-in-1 didn't provide protection in that test for 24 HOURS. But in the real world test of preserving firearms in a common gun safe, 3-in-1 worked perfectly for 21 YEARS

Buy a quart of Mobil 1 whatever W30. It will last you probably a lifetime.
Great stuff, I use it a lot, although I have not tried it on guns. It doesn't protect against rust well, but does remove it well.

One needs to by one of the Wonder Lubes.....I'd recommend one, but they change so quickly among the Tactical community, I'm unaware of the Lube Du Jour.
It HAS to be backed by an "Operator" too. SEAL's are good, Special forces at the bare minimum.
And it HAS to be uber expensive too, marketed in a 1 ounce or smaller vial. Stay away from anything less than $20 an ounce.

I've been using Weaponshield (both oil and grease) for a few years and I'm happy with that.

Decent write up. Author goes on to talk about that gun lube is pricey and guns don't make much of a demand on lubricants. He then goes on and recommends high priced gun lubes.

What high priced lubes? He mentions the food grade lubes. STILL cheaper than many gun lubes. I bought a gallon of the FW350, or whatever acronym.
Split it up with several friends, two years ago. All of us happy with the results, and we still have a near lifetime supply left.
Sixteen ounces of oil goes a LONG way.
Just looked up some old e mails....we paid $29 for a Gallon of FW-350.
