Just Another Colt Agent...

Cocked & Locked, that is a handsome gun. And I have always like that style of Remington 38 Wadcutter box.

If you like that Colt, you should look around for a Police Positive 4th Issue. It is your gun with a steel frame, full size grips, and a 4 inch barrel. To me, it is one of the best looking revolvers ever made. Colt did not make a lot of them because they found they could sell all the Diamondbacks they could make, which was the same gun only "Pythonized". The exact equivalent to your Agent would be the alloy-framed Viper, but they are even scarcer, and priced accordingly.

That mid 70s Agent IMHO are the best years. I recently sold a NIB Cobra from 70 that is the same except for grip length. It sold for $1000 , I bought it 20 years ago for $350 and it stayed in the safe while the Ugly parkerized Agents got used (up :) ) . Nice vintage display!

This one is 1976 vintage. It probably knows some things it can't share.

Your earlier one you carried could tell some good stories thru your experiences!

Bought it new in 1973. Never had to draw it fortunately. Sold it to a retired SFPD officer I worked with and do not know much about it then. Not much to say other than it shot well enough at close targets.

That's a beautiful Agent. Mine's been shot a lot more than yours. I got a heck of a deal on it because some bubba had done the "steel rod in the mainspring" trick and it wouldn't function reliably in DA mode. I was able to VERY carefully rebend the spring and got it working well. If you can find one, the Colt Police Positive MK V is basically just a detective special with a 4 inch barrel and is a joy to carry and shoot
