Ventura/Los Angeles California

Where would be a good place that isn't ridiculously restrictive, ridiculously overpriced to shoot nearby LA, or the Ventura area? Where I can freely fire both a handgun and a shotgun? I know California is 2nd amendment hell, but there's got to be places where I can shoot and teach a friend how to, without costing a arm and a leg, or be restricted to one type at a time, or be forced to buy the range's overpriced ammo.

Go out of Ventura on Hi-way 126 through Santa Paula and Fillmore to Piru. Go through Piru and follow the road out to just below the dam there is a ranch that has several ranges open to the public. There used to be a small sign on the left of the road directing you up an old dirt road. Take it.

Keep in mind that it's been several years sense I was there.
