It’s time we stop screwing around

The founding fathers included the 2nd Amendment to protect the people from a govenment of tyranny.

The anti gun politicians know this and if they can disarm us they eliminate the last sense of checks and balances.

How dare we defy them, we elected Trump to stop Clinton. They’ve been trying to undo that now this.

This Republican sounds an awful lot like a Democrat to me. This quote could have been written by Feinstein or Pelosi:

“This common-sense legislation will ban devices that blatantly circumvent already existing law without restricting Second Amendment rights,” ~ Rep Carlos Curbelo (R-Fla.)

Here's a news article on the matter:

Honestly, if the Republicans turn against their constituency based on this kind of peer pressure driven knee-jerk and emotional reaction to an unfortunate tragedy, I think we'll see them solidly losing their next election.

Yes, but losing to who? Democrats, that's who. Gun owners won't vote Dem, but they will either vote symbolic third party or just stay home.

Exactly - they won't vote Dem, but could damage the R candidate by voting third party.

As in Virginia - disaffected Republican voters go for Libertarian or Independent candidates, as protest or otherwise. End result - Republican votes are drained off, and the Democratic candidate wins.

Republican candidates need to be challenged earlier on - in the primaries - on their stance on key issues. This is why primaries are important - some elected officials don't have the pro-2A stance you think they "should" as Republicans.

This is poorly written legislation - including amorphous terms that will end up being defined and interpreted by nameless bureaucrats - and with absolutely no re-affirmation of 2A rights. It makes mere possession of the device a pretty serious offense, even though it was the government itself that explicitly documented that it thought these devices were legal (ATF), and that companies built and citizens purchased with the good faith understanding of the government's interpretation.

"Common sense legislation" always means infringement on your rights.
These so called Republicans are in office because so many voters fail to get involved until the general election when it is often too late.

"Common sense legislation" has the beginning and 'buzz words' used in every idiotic speech given by every idiot, socialist, rat offspring of unmarried parents, politician ever given up here. Even the legislation that was supposed to ease our stupid laws started with "Common sense legislation".

This bill says 5 years JAIL for possession of a bump fire stock or a rate of fire increasing devise, That makes a guy an instant felon without even causing harm, what you had a trigger job done to smooth out a trigger, makes it easier to fire , rate could increase = Felony this does not apply ONLY to AR type rifles
UGLY UGLY !!

The first step is for every conservative in this country to finally admit that we don't elect our leaders, and we haven't for quite some time. And even if we do, they're quickly circumvented by the deep state, either through bribery or coercion. And even in the event that we can unseat one RINO, there are a million more for the deep state to choose from when it comes election time.

these traitors all need to be primaried.
I registered as a Libertarian directly after my state's GOP primary in 2016. The GOP has talked the good talk, but haven't carried through on doing the right thing for decades. Time to hurt them the only way they care about (maintaining political power) as a final plea to change their ways. Regardless of if they wake up and smell the coffee (smells like freedom, by the way), I agree with Libertarian ideals more, anyway...

It's too bad the vast majority of the country is convinced that only two (clueless) parties should be in power. :barf:

Heres the list of Republicans that are on board with this law, hopefully no more jump on bored. If you live in one of these states I would suggest giving them a call and a piece of your mind.

Carlos Curbelo, FL
Peter King, NY
Leonard Lance, NJ
Patrick MeeHan , PA
Ed Royce, CA
Chris Smith, NJ
Erik Paulsen, MN
Ryan Costello, PA
Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, FL
Charlie Dent, PA

Grampajack you are correct.

He argues it’s a blank check to regulate guns by not defining the terms in the bill (law if it’s passed and signed)
Not the first time they have written bills like this, it's what they do. If true, it won't go anywhere as is, but the hope is always that a watered down version will pass. They can say see, we gave you something, when in fact they only get something new.

Wah, wah, wah, which doesn't help anything. The discussion should be about the bill, what it says, and what the response should be,.
