There may be few here that see the value of opening your gun safe with a phone. But, for those that do, be aware there are security issues with this one:

The company downplayed the ease with which one could implement the threat. But researchers disagreed, stating it is an hour, at most, of work.

I'd imagine the "perp" would be your curious teenager or perhaps a TSA employee. Too techie for most thieves to bother with.

Disable "bluetooth" if you have one and are concerned about the security flaw.

I still don't understand why anyone would want to store a defensive gun in something that locks electronically anyway. Seems like too many opportunities for something to go wrong vs a mechanical lock.
 
This one is worse. It adds a (IMO, unnecessary) step into the process on top of vulnerabilities.

I'm waiting for Google to offer an app for guns so they can track and monitor gun owners.

Yep..as in this site (and all the others you visit) right now and all the time. Every reply, every picture, every serial you have taken a picture of and posted. Yes, AI can easily tell make, model, and OCR the serial. If they want to know, they know.

But about the safe...NEVER use a security device with a radio if you can avoid it. A Bluetooth safe broadcasts a beacon to anyone driving by that "here be a gunsafe." If you go electronic, go keypad or some variation of it. The biometric ones I have tried tend to not open 100% of the time. If you find a good one of those, go for it. But no wifi or bluetooth.
