I was recently reading an older thread that RCmodel posted on, and came across a post from Old Fuff. I realized I hadn't seen anything he posted for quite awhile. I checked his profile page and he hasn't posted in over a year. Anyone know if Fuff has passed on?

Well, I hate to say it, but I messaged Fuff over a week ago, and I haven't gotten a response. I'm not going to offer any speculation on the matter. Who knows, maybe he sold all his stuff and is sitting on a beach in Mexico somewhere, ignoring THR, and FB, and all the other internet noise that's out there. At times like this though, I have a difficult time not assuming the worst.

We may never know. If he's walked into trouble, I hope he walks out again. If he has passed on, I hope he is busy explaining to the archangels why a revolver is a better holy weapon with which to smite Satan than their swords.

Thank you for your due diligence in this matter. As always I hope and pray that everything is for the best with Old Fuff.

Is there any way that the system administrators could try to track down his approximate location using his IP address. Then possibly some other research could bring us closer to knowing what is going on with him.

I wish Old Fuff well and hope for the best also, but I feel that this is a line that simply should not be crossed.

I agree. While the sentiment and concern are well placed, to try and track down a forum member in an administrative way would be an invasion of privacy. If I quietly walked away from THR and the mods did what was suggested, I'd be pretty upset.

Better to just wish him well on whatever journey he may be on.

If someone knows his real name, try Googling it. I lost contact with a friend several years ago and there was no answer when I tried his phone. When I googled him I got his obituary so I at least knew what had become of him. Google also works for getting phone numbers and addresses if you type in name and city for someone.

I'm curious and mean no disrespect but how did anyone know that RC model passed way? Yes, I would think tracking anyone down would be severally crossing the line!

I was thinking more of the obituary search myself, and not a "creepy stalker" type of intervention. I hope and pray that he is doing well, and just otherwise occupied, but none of us are growing any younger, and when you use "Old" in your screen name then....

RC had friends here that knew him personally, not just by his screen name. They posted news of his illness and later his passing. I've also known of guys on various forums whose wives or children logged on under their name to inform forum members of their passing. I hope it isn't anytime soon, but will instruct my wife to do so for me.

Isn't that about the time the forum format changed over? I wonder if he may not have found the change to his liking?

Even if that were the case Old Fuff was a very stand-up kind of guy; I doubt he would have left THR without telling us the reason why. I would also think, at the very least, he would have said goodbye before he posted for the last time.

Just found out a member of another forum that I have frequented for many years passed at the age of 39 from a heart attack. It's kind of strange that I've never actually met the guy, but it felt like having an acquaintance or someone you work with pass. I felt really bad. He randomly stopped posting several months ago, but nobody really noticed until a thread very similar to this was posted. This poster was a very large man (over 300lbs) and disabled, so we feared the worse. It was finally confirmed that he had passed by another poster that new him personally. His profile was started in 2004, and he was a very active poster, so he was very well known. It's pretty cool how a guy that couldn't even leave his own home on his own was still able to make plenty of friend and have a little bit of a social life with this type of technology. I think that's one of the bigger positives to online communities.

Or convincing them to trim the handguard on their swords.
