I put a drop of purple (low strength) Loctite on the threads of mine, no issue with it coming loose but I haven't tried putting a 200-300 hundred rounds thru it in a session to see.
May need to add that to my to do list
Such a long list so little time....sigh

Need to retire and get some land where I can walk out my back door and shoot. (Hopefully an achievable dream, but of course $$ always figure in, or maybe I should say lack of $$:))
May need to start a thread to get suggestions for where.

I just use an IMI pistol scope mount and a cheap BSA 2x20 pistol scope.
Ordered same inexpensive BSA scope.
Not the scope I would choose if I was handgun hunting but decent and works well for testing

Thanks for the info on the scope and mount. I like the idea of being able to switch them between guns. I have two Sigs, one SP2022 in 9mm, and a P226 in 40 S&W. Have you tried that rail mount on any other guns that aren't Sigs to see if they would fit well enough to work up loads in those?

About that BSA scope; cheap is good for testing loads - what I want to know is how good is the eye relief? Is it long and clear enough to shoot pretty normal without having to crawl up on top the gun? Judging by the groups you posted, you must be able to see pretty well thru it.

After looking at polymer mounts, I went with aluminum Mako Universal Scope Mount
That's the one I had. Kept loosening up. Screw stayed tight, mount kept slipping. Trashed it. XDm has scuffs because of it. *Sigh* Ended up with an XDm OSP. $550 shipped no 3%. Put a FFIII 8 MOA dot on it. :)

A more old school mount. Makes a big difference in groups with old eyes. .38 Super with a 9MM barrel.

How is the LNL progresive working out for you?

I haven't gotten quite into production yet. I keep running into set-backs. The Rainier bullets weren't working out for me, most of them were measuring sub .355 and I was experiencing bullet setback too often. That's when I started to work up a new load in the Xtreme 124FP's. I got a few more toys for Christmas that I've been playing around with, one being another stand alone powder measure with a micrometer adjustment. Now my Gem Pro 250 scale has been acting weird, and it's not consistent and drifts terribly. I don't trust it anymore so I sent it back to the company yesterday. I pulled out my old RCBS 505 and sometimes it works alright, and other times the beam will hang either up or down. So it needs some attention also. However I have ordered a cheap scale on Amazon to get by until that Gem Pro comes back or I decide to rebuild that 505. I've also been having nightmares with my Lee bullet seating die. It's not consistent either in seating the FP bullets. I'm getting ready to start another thread about it. Over the holidays I was showing my reloading room to my oldest granddaughter's husband and he was curious as to what my RCBS primer tool was, so I picked it to show it to him and accidentally dropped it. Of course it broke the primer feed and I'm waiting now for a new one to be delivered, so if I want to prime on the press now's a good time to learn. Thru all these setbacks, I have managed to work up a few loads the last couple of weeks with great caution. The weather here has been so cold since Christmas, I haven't been able to go outside in the sub 0-single digit temps and try them out.

Actually with all these setbacks, plus the cold weather, it would be a good time to reorganize my reloading room and maybe even build onto the bench and add a few more shelves.

I had thought about using a scope for testing accuracy with pistol loads, but what I ended up doing was buying a green Crimson Trace laser when it was on sale. The green is bright enough to show up in daylight, against a white target. I did learn very quickly not to line up the POI with the POA. If you do, you end up trying to line the laser up with a big hole in the paper. I now have the laser sighted to be a couple inches low. This has worked out very well for me since I generally do my accuracy testing at 10 yards, though I have gone out to 25 once.

Off thread but

My Frankford DS750 is fine until the batteries get weak then it starts going a bit nuts.
On the 5-0-5 it might just need to be cleaned. I believe BDS has posted here some place how to go about it.
I used my Lee seater with the RMR FPs and some other FPs with no issues. Did the issue with the Lee seater come up when you switched to the LNL?
Is it ok if you use it in your other press with the same bullets? If it just does it in the LNL my first guess would be a loose shell plate.
Not a whole lot to go wrong with the die itself. Issue could also be caused buy the bullets not being consistent. Try a different bullet if you have some and see if the problem is bullet related.
So is it the die or the press it is in or the batch of bullets you are using? (could be any of these)
Will measure what I get for I relief on the BSA when I get home from work for you.

Dudedog, I've started a new thread on the bullet seating: https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/bullet-seating-woes.830748/#post-10724050

I have that shell plate locked down with a lock washer now and it's "rock-tight."

Here's a scale I've run across:
I was so impressed with it yesterday I ordered one - it was less than $20 bucks on Amazon; for that cheap I thought it was worth a shot. Not much to lose, and will be a good stand-in at least till my others get back.

Sizer is too small, expander is too big, or some of both, or you are over expanding, and perhaps over crimping. Check each step. Size some thin walled cases, seat a bullet without using the expander. if the neck tension is solves, the expander is too big, you are running it in too deep, or over crimping, or a combination of things.

I've lightened the crimp up quite a bit; it's just enough to remove the bell, you can barely see a dent when pulling the bullet.

As far as the expander goes, if I take out and less than what it is expanding, my bullet feeder won't set the bullet. I played with this die a lot to find some happy medium as to where the bullet won't fall out before it reaches the seating die. It's where it needs to be; it's barely hanging in the case now.

I did remove the top of the seat die and pull out the seater just to see how it fit the FP bullets. It doesn't look bad, and the O-ring that's on that top adjustment screw is just there so it will hold it's posistion like a lock; the seater itself is touching the adjustment knob. I'm beginning to think this is more of a case issue. Although it crossed my mind to use a little thread tape on the adjustment screw to make sure it's not a thread issue.

So, are you giving up and just settling for poor neck tension? I don't understand how that is stopping you from fixing it.

Giving up?? Not so. I don't understand your reply. I haven't nailed down the problem as to how to fix it yet. It could be case related or it might not be. I'm just looking for ideas from someone who might have experienced similar issues and how they resolved it.

After looking at polymer mounts, I went with aluminum Mako Universal Scope Mount to use for the upcoming "Mother Of All Bullets" thread - https://www.amazon.com/Mako-Universal-Picatinny-Mount-Pistols/dp/B004O6CDV0

Initial testing with Glocks/Sig 1911 have been satisfactory with no looseness noted after 100+ rounds.

bds, That looks like a good scope mount for picatinny rail. I went with the polymer since my P229's are not picatinny and the IMI indicated it could be used on SIG. I'm not sure if the aluminum picatinny mount will fit on the SIG proprietary rail.

Need to retire and get some land where I can walk out my back door and shoot. (Hopefully an achievable dream, but of course $$ always figure in, or maybe I should say lack of $$:))

This is something I also need to start looking at. Please don't suggest any land in California.

Yes, I have both of those boxes checked (retired & remote location) and I've been trying to load a crummy 30 rounds to chrono for three days :neener:
You got to wish for no wife and no grandkids, too :what:

But... who would be that crazy? ;)

Not I :D

This is showing on product page.

I think they are just showing it on the SIG since it is a good looking gun.:)

That is definitely the rounded SIG rail and it seems to fit. From the picture it looks like the mount is perhaps blocking the ejection port. The IMI mount sits straight up and the ejection port is completely open. I will have to keep this mount in mind if I have issues with mine after a few months.

Of course. :D

Having started shooting with P226 and currently Sig 1911, Sigs have fond place in my heart.

Actually no. As the slide moves back, the port is well clear of the mount when the spent case is ejected. Mount looks the same on my Glocks and spent cases eject without issues.

Your thread so I guess it's ok if I sidetrack a bit.
Did you have a thread on the neck tension issue already?

I understand the balancing act with the bullet feeder.
Did going from the Rainers (which you said some of were less than .355-undersize) to Xtremes solve the issue?

If not
What brand die (or PTX) are you using to expand?

I've also been having nightmares with my Lee bullet seating die. It's not consistent either in seating the FP bullets
How much variance? (some could be due to the bullets being inconsistent, always possible)
You will have a little more with the progressive. (one of reasons I like to deprime / flair in a separate pass. the others are I like to clean the deprimed cases and prime off press with my hand primer)

edit:....oopps new thread for this

Scope/mount
I measured eye to the back of my BSA bargain scope with my arm extension ~20" . Eye relief seems fine there. BSA says 11-20" so I am probably close to the edge. (5'10" so I don't have real long arms)
Mount seems to snug up fine on my XD compact but have not tried it there. Only $30 so fairly inexpensive. (of course not as nice as the mount Walkalong has on his 1911, but no drilling/tapping required)

off thread
And no I would not suggest land in California, I am in CA and getting out of CA is retirement goal #1 !!!!!!!!!
I would not recommend any gun owners to move here if they had a choice.. It's bad now and will probably get worse......sigh

PS: it was 76 here today and I can expect a low of about 50 tonight.:)
So everything here is not bad, just almost everything
Hope it warms up a bit for everybody getting record or near record lows in other parts of the country..
-20

From guns.com
The Ruger P-95 uses a short-recoil, locked-breech system where the backwards force is absorbed by the slide rather than the frame. Although there are many locked-breech handguns, the P-Series uses a design similar to the SIG P220 and 1911pistols.
Does anyone know if this (IMI POLYMER Sig Sauer mount) will fit a P95DC? Probably a dumb question, but I feel kind of dumb right now o_O

I have a birthday coming up in a couple of weeks, and I put this mount and a 32mm scope on the list. I'm the same height as you, so the eye relief should be OK.

Lucky you.. It's 0° outside right now, but it's suppose to get up above freezing Sunday. It's been single digits in the morning, then teens in the aftn since right after Christmas here where I'm at in KY. They said next Wed it will be 60-62. Crazy here. One thing about it, "if you don't like the weather here, stick around, it'll change."

I tested a few loads this weekend with the Xtreme 9mm 124gr FP bullet and HP-38. So far I like what I see. Following is the best grouping load I tested, but I still need to do some additional loads, especially at the higher end. This load is just a light accurate load, but not making minor PF if that is what you are looking for. Testing was done from a rest with chrono at 12 yards and target at 15 yards.

This seemed to work for me as well with Extreme RN seated to 1.135".
I'm going to try upping the charge to 4.0 to see what groups can be had. Started at 3.6 grns, but wouldn't cycle reliaby till I got above 3.8

I have been loading Berry's 124 round nose (VERY similar to xtreme) with 5.2 grains of CFE Pistol, at an OAL of 1.140 with CCI 500 primers. SD of 12, AVG velocity of 1090 fps, very accurate round that's not super hot. However, that works best for MY CZ P09, start low and work your way up. I shoot at a lot of hard steel, and IMO cast bullets are the best option for steel.
