A lot of us carry. Most of us choose an autoloader or double-action wheelgun of some flavor. Now, these guns are generally sensible choices and offer a number of advantages over other designs, but they seem to utterly dominate the carry market.

What I want to know is, what is the most unusual, impractical, "non-CCW", or just plain strange handgun you've carried?

That would be an Astra Model 600 in an M7 shoulder holster. Didn't have any other holsters that would fit it (the original flap holster it came with wasn't really suited for concealed carry), and the shoulder holster actually worked well in the colder months when I typically wore an M65 Field Jacket over it.

6” smith 686-6, 6” Taurus m44, Colt Delta Elite, 9” Ruger single six in a homemade flap holster (22 mag cylinder), AR pistol slung,

Omega defense industries double action lower mated to a Colt 1991A1 upper. (Aka a Seecamp conversion. ) I tried like hell to make that thing run as my IDPA pistol. It wasn't very reliable but it sure was interesting.

I packed a Luger on an antelope hunt in the 90s just to say I had carried it.

A couple of Bobergs, one on my hip in a custom Ready Tactical IWB kydex holster and one in my front pocket in a "sticky" pocket holster. Unusual, but actually a very nice self-defense combo.

BOARHUNTER

Not particularly "strange"... but I have carried a Beretta 21A in .22LR a time or two.

I went on to sell it, but would probably get another if I saw one at a good price (not for carry, just for funsies). Preferably in .25 ACP, but would consider another .22LR also. Neat little guns.

leinad 45/410 double barrel.

Was actually a fun and cheap little pistol. Don't shoot em too much though, they aren't meant for that and I had to deem mine no longer fit for service and scrap it.

What happened with it? I have run mine pretty regularly for a decade or so with 45colt, bird shot and the occasional 410 handgun federal loads. Was yours a kit build or factory?

I carried a .45 Colt Shopkeeper SAA for a while. I figured my S&W Model 36 only carried 5 rounds of .38, and I was better off with 5 rounds of .45 (empty chamber under hammer). I felt secure and well armed with it, just realized there wouldn't be much chance of a quick reload. I ended up selling it to a friend who wanted it REALLY bad.

Anymore a pencil barrel m10 is a stange choice but if I’m carrying a full-size gun it’s probably that.

NAA mini at times but somebody wanted it and I sold it.

I am assuming a factory build but I couldn't say for sure as it was purchased person to person used. Didn't look like it had been shot much when I received it, but I shot it quite a bit with 410 loads and the lockup just became really sloppy. I could close the barrels and wiggle it and it would chatter around. fun $100 though and worked wonders on copperheads when mowing.

Did you feel like the joker from the older batman movie pulling that thing out?
I always default to the villain from Last Action Hero, but it's really 6 of one half dozen of the other. From crossdraw, it actually draws fairly smoothly believe it or not.

For a time (when concerned about concealment and owning no other little guns), carried a Beretta 1934 (beautiful pre-war model) inherited from the late father-in-law a few times. Built like a Swiss watch with the world's hardest trigger, but reliable and accurate nonetheless.
