just wanted to pass this along I called Savage today to order a front sight base and blade and screw for my Hog Hunter as I switched my sight out and now want to reinstall the factory one, I lost it so my bad ,anyway when I called asking to order the front sight assembly and ask the cost with shipping the Lady from Savage said I am shipping this out under warranty parts and shipping 0 cost to me, I was blown away by this ,talk about a good customer service experience, it is not the rifle's fault I lost the parts and still free parts under warranty
maybe she was just in a good mood I don't know buy im happy !

Yep! Savage arms is the ONLY long rifle I will ever buy! I have an axis 2 that had issues with not ejecting, extracting and they paid overnight shipping to and from and instead of fixing it they replaced the bolt at no cost to me. They asked if I filled out the warranty card and I said I don't think so but they didn't care. Best firearms company I have dealt with.

I needed clarification regarding my several Savage rebates, and some technical info regarding my new M220.

When I contacted Savage’s customer service, “Adilenys Rivera” sent me clarifications regarding the M220. She also helped me sort-out which rebate had to be sent where.

Super customer service!

My .308W Savage was partly a deception. The day I bought it, when I arrived home I saw that I could not close the bolt with any commercial .308W ammunition I tried. To make things worse the bullets remained plugged into the first grooves and I was not very happy having to remove them from the barrel. I checked the length of my cartridges against the standard and all them were compliant.

My first idea was to return the rifle to the seller, but some colleagues advised me against it at risk he could try to fix it drilling deeper or something. Meanwhile I wrote to Savage Arms. They never replied. After several emails plus snail mail letters I gave up. I am in Europe and returning it to the Canadian factory would imply months without the rifle.

So I began reloading shorter cartridges adjusting the load and it behave well. After some 700 shots I am getting closer to the expected cartridge length. I guess there was a big burr into the chamber and that it is slowly reducing shot after shot.

Would I buy another Savage? I am not sure. Perhaps after a deep examination of the gun, including testing commercial ammunition, which is something I have never seen done in a gun shop.

Purchased a little Savage Rascal .22 youth bolt gun last month so my soon to be 6 year old step grand-daughter will have something more her size when she gets to shoot for the first time this summer. Had the 50 dollar rebate offer on it and you can do it online or through the mail. I elected to do it online but ran into so many problems and frustrations after several attempts that I finally filled out everything and mailed it. A couple weeks later I got an E-mail from Savage acknowledging that they got it and telling me that they'd be sending my check. I was kind of upset with the online procedure but they more than made up for it with their quick and courteous response to my snail mail rebate application.

I seem to remember Savage producing a single shot pistol. Does anybody know if they still do?

What kind of Single Shot? They make the single shot Rascal, 22LR youth rifle, and they make a few single shot centerfire rifles on their target action like the 12 Palma (also available as bare action, sans stock or barrel.

ETA - I overlooked the "Pistol" part last time... sorry about the confusion.

Savage used to make a single shot bolt action pistol like the Remington XP's and IIRC it was called the " Striker". I recall seeing some, one of which was in .308 IIRC. I think they are now history but don't recall when they were introduced.... 1980's perhaps?

The Striker, that' it. Thanks 22250Rem. I couldn't recall for the life of me. I guess I'll have to scour the used shelves.

The Striker was also available as a repeater. As of 2015, Savage would still build one for you on request, but without a stock (no more inventory), I'm not sure if that remains for 2018, but a call to their custom order shop would answer the question. The Striker was a rare bird in the Specialty Pistol world compared to the XP100, which were all either single shot mid-grips or rear grip repeaters in deference to the mag box, while the Striker is a mid-grip repeater. Placing the mag box over the grip makes them remarkably tall in the stock, having a very high bore axis over the wrist, so the recoil is quite different, and some of the more purist specialty Pistol guys don't care for them. The most common models were 308 family cases, and most with an integral two position brake. There were blued and stainless models, with a synthetic stock base model, and a space gun looking laminate model called the "Super Striker."

I have Strikers in 243, 7-08, and 308, missing a 260 I shouldn't have sold. I have a custom order Striker I from 2015 which is another 7-08.

Never heard of this one either, until today. Neat-o!

They're not as sexy as the XP100's, since the stocks are a lot thicker, nor quite as familiar for rifle shooters as the XP100R's, but they're great pistols. The capabilities of bolt action specialty pistols like these will absolutely blow your mind.

You never called Savage?

Nope, I did not. Calling to the Americas is not usual among us (Spain) due to the costly phone rates and after several emails and letters I got convinced that their silence was their response. Pity because the usual price for an American gun here is between 40 to 100% over what the average US customer pays.

As I am writing these lines I have just checked today's prices for my rifle:
US $ $1,195.00; € 1,755.00 = US $ 2131,67 thus 78% more if I am not mistaken. One would expect higher price would imply better customer care but it is not the case.

Franky, that price difference is doesn't go to Savage at all. It goes to the distributors and customs in your country, and the US. Because of ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) US companies can not discuss technical matters with you. The proper source of customer service will be through your dealer, or the company importing the guns into Spain.

Didn’t know you are in Spain. Did you state it somewhere and I just missed it? The reason I asked if you called them is because I’ve found I get faster and better service calling instead of Email or snail mail. Fortunately International phone rates in the US are a fraction of what they used to be. I started in Telecom in 1989 and to call Great Britain was over $3.00 a minute. Now it costs less than $.10 or is free.

Bought a Savage Axis in 223 a few years ago. Very satisfied. No problems so no experience with customer service. But then maybe that's a form of testimony in its own right. I'd certainly look at them first the next time I need a rifle of a type they make.

you bought a savage rifle in spain ? new?used?
spain is not a gun friendly with a right to own gun place, is their a savage retail sales type gun store you bought it from ?
I dont know if savage can even ship a gun to you ?
lots of unknowns here perhaps vist your local gun store or smith if you have one a quick read makes me think spain is not like the USA where you can freely walk into a guns store a buy a gun ?

savage maybe breaking a law if they sent parts or firearm to you ?
and I agree you need to call

I will add a positive comment about Savage. I recently bought a Predator version of the Model 11 and had a problem with the online sign up for the rebate. The customer service lady was very helpful and patient and solved the problem for me. I have also gotten an e-mail notification that the rebate paperwork was received and is being processed.
Oh, and the rifle shoots well too...

I agree that their products and service are excellent. I purchased from Savage the bottom metal needed for my Model 11 when I added a Boyd’s stock. Customer service was excellent and the shipping was very quick. Quality of the Savage rifles I own is excellent. I am very pleased with the out-of-the-box accuracy.
