Armi San Marco (CVA) brass frame Navy .36---

Arrived at the shelter with only half the trigger/bolt spring but survived the surgery and is no longer limping.

Pietta steel frame Navy .36---

Currently awaiting another surgery to correct the mangled leg of her cylinder stop. Working on these revolvers has really made me appreciate the elegance of Sam Colt's engineering, which elegance this Pietta does not quite share.

If handfitting parts could be done cheaply, or these guns could sell as well with expensive hand fitted parts, I'm sure the Pietta Brothers would gain a greater appreciation for Sam Colt's more perfect pistols, elegance and all.;)

Pietta brass frame stepped cylinder .44 with Dragoonish barrel---

Is this a copy of some Confederate type?
The poor girl spent the last eleven years locked in a gun bag with a paper packet of activated charcoal powder. When finally removed from this environment, the victim was found to have powdered charcoal deposited everywhere on and in her person. Detailed cleaning revealed a slight genetic mutation which causes the hand to deflect off the cylinder axis on the way up, but this does not interfere with timing and lock up, so the Doctor is going to leave it alone.

Armi San Paolo attempt at an 1858 Remington---

413732921.jpg

This poor orphan suffers from an overly thick mainspring, clubbed hammer and a purple complexion, which is muted in the photo by the green background. There is something off with the grip as well. During firing, the Remington grip batters my second finger somewhat, even in the excellent Pietta I posted elsewhere; this one hurts when I am merely trying to hold it's nose up. What's a little pain, anyway?

Euroarms Rogers and Spencer .44---

There is nothing wrong with this revolver, except she snuck out one night and got a tattoo. Yep, she's perfect, except for the "Cabela's" tattooed on her barrel. Still , I love her.

The "Colt" fluted .44 1860 and "Colt" signature series .36 pocket model said that they weren't going to be photographed with "a bunch of misfits" and threw such a fit I locked them in their room and refused to get their supper.

"If handfitting parts could be done..."

Mr. gunn, all of the Colt copies I own, Pietta, ASM and Uberti have hand fitted cylinder stops. The right hand leg of the stop is fitted and shaped to work with the stud on the hammer and the locking bolt itself is altered to fit through the hole in the frame and to work with the recesses cut into the cylinder.

krinko - I want to commend your good heartedness for finding homes for so many wayward characters!

By the way, are you holding the monkey for ransom or giving his ears a good cleaning?

"I have always heard that pets that are kept in pairs are happier..."

Well, there are some real humanitarians around here, there surely are.
Brings a tear to my eye to have to disappoint them so cruelly.
If I start bawling, I will endeavor to make sure I don't drop any salt water on this sweet baby---

Or this one---

Goodnight Irene.

* But, apparently not with the same sensitive expertise as Colt's experienced factory artisans did in the 1860s....perhaps?

Quite a collection Krinko. You're doing an excellent job of keeping them all happy, which when a Second Generation or Third Generation Colt is involved that's not an easy thing to do.

I thoroughly support your efforts in restoring these fine revolvers to their former glory! I also think your Colt Model 1862 Pocket Navy is truly beautiful! I can certainly understand their elevated feelings of self importance having lived with a Colt Model 1860 Signature Series for well over 20 years now.

And having recently added not only a Pietta Remington New Model Navy and a Pietta Colt Model 1860 to the fold, I have endeavored to keep all three of them separated and otherwise blissfully unaware of the other's existence. I just figure it's so much easier that way!

Did anyone else envision a Dickensian scene of "Please sir, I want some more" when they read this? I hope you finally let them out and fed them, even if it was only gruel.

Ok krinko, we haven't seen any updates to any unwanted and abused checking in to the shelter.
Surely you haven't started turning them away!
:what:

"...we haven't seen any updates to any unwanted and abused checking in to the shelter."
When word got out I was looking for unwanted and abused, every grifter in town showed up with a dirty Armi San Paolo brass '51. They were all priced $100 each, too.
There are limits to my philanthropy.
This caught my eye, though---

A Pietta "Rebel Sheriff " .36 G&G replica from 1979. Has a Replica Arms logo on the frame AND a Navy Arms legend on the barrel. I had to work the wedge with a Mill Bastard pretty seriously to make it fit properly, but all is well now. You can see distortion to the frame at the rear of the wedge slot in the left side view. Mr.Bigger Hammer was at work there.

And then there's this .36 "Spiller and Burr" from 1973---

413864411.jpg

This one is not clearly maker marked---just a double diamond on the butt strap. Beautifully made, smooth as anything.

In a couple weeks I am going to try for a square backed Dragoon with "Address Sam Colt" marks on top of the barrel and Armi San Marco under it. If it's a mutt, I want it.
