Naming Guns

I have two I've named. One is FrankenCup and the other is FrankenGlock. FrankenCup is a Gold Cup parts kit on a no-name frame with a few Videcki parts. Three different finishes and one sweet trigger! FrankenGlock is Glock 34 that the previous owner chopped the grip down to Glock 19 length and sanded the finger grooves off. This was before stippling was the rage. It's uglier than any other Glock I've ever seen, but it shoots rather well.

And recently I named my three SBR AR uppers, actually labeled them with a label maker, the 5.56 is PS for poodle shooter (seems that's all a 223/5.56 is good for) ;), the 300 Blackout is simply 300 (I need to be more creative), but the 7.62x39 is ARSKI.
Haha, Ive got a FrankenColt- assembled from spare parts, some of which were Wilson Combat, some are probably Phillipine or Norinco, on a Federal Ordnance frame. Man does it shoot though!
The only actual Colt part is the magazine.....lol.

I have an old side crank pellet gun named "Sally". It's carved into her stock very gnarly because it's funny. All my buddy's love Sally and ask if she wants to come out and play (it's a popular pest control gun amongst my friends).

I also refer to all my guns as "my girlfriends" or "my babies"

I don't feel close enough to any of my firearms to name them.

If any of them transcended the toy/tool level, sure. But none of them have (so far).

I name my guns after political figures. The ones that work are named after the pachyderms and the ones that don't are named after the jackasses.

My M-1 is "President Trump"

My most worthless gun, which I never try to shoot because it won't make it through a five round mag without jamming....anyway....

That one is "Nancy."

I just call them what they are already named- Glock 19, OBR, 870, etc. I tend to give pets the cool names. I have a cat named Leonidis.
THIS..... IS... LITTER BOX!!! kicks the turd out

Sorry couldn't help it :rofl::rofl:

And to the op,never thought of naming my guns, vehicles ,or other inanimate objects. However something like "hand of God" , "authority" ,or "the hammer" would be suiting for a big bore

My Desert Eagle is named after an a aquaintance. Allison has bitten me. She even drew blood. And I kept going back for more.
The Eagle bit me too. Only once though.:D

I have a Taurus PTninety two, it is very accurate with Sellier and Belliot ammuntion. At one hundred yards. Fifteen through a milk jug, seven of those through the center circle, arms rested on a cooler. His name is Long Tom, like Hook's cannon.

Huh, besides Tom, I think of my firearms as female. One of my nineteen elevens is named Fat Mabel, but I just say Mabel when she is in the room.

I have called guns names before, even ones I didn’t own, does that count?

I've never considered naming my guns. The only objects I've ever named were two of my motorcycles.

My CBR600 had a name that started with a "B" and rhymed with "itch", because that's what I made it whenever I'd take it out. I could thrash that thing on the twisties.

On the flip side I called my KTM dirtbike "Honey", because if I wasn't nice she'd buck me off. Steep hill climbs were not my friend, and I spent a lot of time picking up that bike halfway up a hill, riding it back down and trying again.

Never have named any inanimate objects, don't give my trucks a gender either.

Never have, but certainly don't judge those that do, the reasoning is always facinating.

I have to many to name. Could you see the fight that could start by just naming a few. With guns from over 20 countries, WWIII could break out in my house between the guns.
And I have a feeling that it would be an Austrian that would start the shooting, you know how unsafe those Glocks are without a manual safety. ;)
So to keep the peace in my collection, nothing gets a name, unless it arrived with one like the Jungle Carbine I picked up in 2009 named Penny.

Just names like, "the Colt," or, "the Makarov," and the like. I don't "name" things. My car is "the Jeep."

I did name my pug, her name is Ming.

Night Lord, in my case it was a Colt Gold Cup parts set that had everything except the frame. I think it came from a gun that had to be destroyed and the rest was parted out. So it's slide, barrel, bushing, grips, trigger, hammer, everything except the frame. It took me a bit to find a frame to build it on. I finally found a Double Star, but it wasn't National Match. I learned about that - the frame cutout for the trigger is wider. So, couldn't use the parts trigger, so bought the Videcki. I had a local smith assemble it for me and he suggested the hammer and beaver tail as well.
He also tuned the trigger and that thing is sweet!
It's the Colt Blue slide and barrel, parkerized frame, and stainless trigger, hammer and beaver tail, with some natural metal where he fitted the beaver tail into the frame.

I'm kicking around the idea of having every part cerakoted or plated a different color. I need a hookup with someone who does coating.....:D

I've toyed around with the idea of coating mine, but I kinda like it as is. It's more FrankenCup that way!
I'll have to snap a pic and upload it.
I've done some coating using the KG Gun-Kote products in the past. I did a Taurus 92 as gun metal gray with black accents (trigger, take down lever, safety, slide lock, mag release, etc.). It came out looking pretty good.

My dad named some of his trap guns after the guys that he bought them from:
'Herb' is a 4e Ithaca
'Butler' is the other 4e
'Little george' is a black diamond mod 12
'Cruzie' is another mod 12
'Archie' is a custom live bird sxs

I got a Remington 870 named "Old Blue."

The name comes from that movie the Christmas story. Ralphie, the stories main character has a dream about taking out bandits with his Red Rider bb gun that he calls "old blue." I loved that movie so much as a kid that I named my shotgun old blue and still call it "old Blue" to this day.

The biggest difference between then and now is that Old Blue was a hunting gun when I was a kid, and now it has a 7 round extended magazine, a 20" smooth bore slug barrel with open sights, and steel but plate. Old blue retired from hunting and became a peacemaker.

My shotgun: Old Thunder
My handguns are simply Smith, or Colt
with the exception of a Pietta 1857 Remington cap and ball .44, which I've named Old Thunder
I'm not very imaginative.
