Cancel NRA membership?

Cancel my membership!?!?!?!? HE.... NO!!! I plan to make a donation at the NRA table at the gunshow this weekend and then send another donation to the ILA next week. At this point, I'm even considering putting off the next purchase for the collection and using the money to upgrade my membership!
NRA -Life Member

I can't imagine anybody canceling their membership for those reasons and I don't know why anybody would even ask. There's absolutely no reason to cancel membership in the NRA only reasons to boycott those businesses. I'm a proud member and nobody is going to take that away from me. I don't think I should have to fight for my rights but there's no other option.

It is strictly running the numbers, calculating the ROI and executing the business conclusion. Companies would rush to offer NRA benefits if the demagraphics were there; it is not about doing good or bad, it is about profit. Corporations are mindless entities established for the sole purpose of making a profit - that is all they do. The tide has shifted; the very large “like” and “um” crowd (those that use the words like and um seventeen times in every sentence) are very shortly going to outnumber the shrinking violence/ wars/ assainations boomers group - it is strictly a group size decision (and just look around and be honest, one group is just as selfish and self-rightous as the other). We cannot continue to fool ourselves with token thought processes; things are very slowly and methodically going to change towards the younger group’s desires and guess what, the numbers say that they are not gun people. The dinosaurs are not here because of one simple failure, they were not able to change. Good shooting.

http://www.2acheck.com/the-boycott-list/nras-list-of-antis/ This is the list of anti gun companies and corporations compiled by the NRA. Looks like it's time for adding more names to it. I got a call yesterday from long time friend (25+ years) and he told me he just did two things, voted for me and canceled his credit card he had for the last 30 years and read them the riot act when he did so. Friends have asked us to go to Wyoming next year with them and we have decided to rent a 12 passenger van and take out the back two seats before hitting the road. Now we have to see if we can find a rental place that is not anti gun because the way I see it , if they are anti gun they are anti me and I will not contribute one cent to their coffers.

My Dad got me a junior membership when I was 11 years old and now I am a Benefactor. If you cancel your membership you cannot vote to remove those directors that let us down.

Why cancel NRA membership for doing their job? They were basically a sportsmans group until the assassinations in the 60’s. They woke up to the fact that they better get political fast or sport shooting would disappear. They are
Satan in the media because they are effective.
I will not use Enterprise when I travel anymore. I’m an NRA lifer from the 1970s, no
change there.

I never joined the NRA for its sponsored discounts. I joined because of its defense of the 2nd amendment and its numerous programs to teach gun safety.

When the NRA is attacked, they are attacking me and the millions of other law-abiding citizen’s rights and freedom. Companies that choose to take sides during a tragedy face grave consequences. Business decisions should not be made for political appeasement. Their stance during a confrontation will long be remembered by the affected party.

I have made a life-long commitment to the NRA. I have set up a trust and plan to give my firearms to the NRA as well as a sizeable contribution. I just sent the NRA another donation based on current events. It’s not so much about the firearms but the rights I cherish as an American and those that will follow me.

Political boycotts never work. Anybody remember the lettuce boycott on behalf of the United Farm Workers? Enterprise car rentals doesn't give a damn if NRA members stop using its services. Its bread and butter is millennials (who are not known for being "gun people").

Ummm hertz and the bank have pretty much proven you wrong.

I also remember Starbucks Walmart and half dozen other companies changing policy because of political boycott after Sandy Hook.

Saying they never work is playing ostrich.

KYregular asked:
Will you cancel your membership with the NRA...

No.

But then I don't have one to cancel. I canceled my NRA membership at the same time President Bush resigned his lifetime membership following their "jackbooted thugs" solicitation. At the time, I was a Federal LEO so I didn't (and since they won't disavow that description of Federal LEOs) still don't find that acceptable or worthy of financial support.

I can certainly understand that..... I don't like that campaign rhetoric either.

I spent the morning calling EVERY Enterprise rental store in Indy advising them I will no longer use their services because of their NRA decision. They have their right to stop supporting the NRA, we have the right to boycott them. PLEASE CALL AND EXPRESS YOUR DISPLEASURE. Thanks

they are canceling their benefit program because the demographics have changed, and they no longer are a target product of NRA types, and know they will not see a major loss, while gaining some free advertising by the news. They think that those few hundred people who are anti NRA will be more interested.

Totally agree! Makes perfect sense, seeing how little (almost instant) time it took for them to make their decision. They won't be missed!
