Last week I was at the LGS picking up reloading stuff and a Smith model 15 was in the display case. A beauty too, original grips, beautiful blueing, the condition is close to excellent. I looked for a minute and walked away. Price seemed kinda high, no notes on whether anything else was included, but what a beauty. So, of course, the darn thing haunted me all weekend.
Tuesday I was accidentally driving by the LGS again (honest) so stopped in on the off chance the thing was still there. It was. I made the mistake of touching it and then asking questions........
It has the original box, instructions, the extra paper the gun was wrapped in, and the original duty holster that the officer that owned it used. Manufacture date appears to be 1969 and the retired officer that owned it traded it in. That was enough for me.
So I picked it up today and went right to the indoor range with it. Ran 20 rounds of 125gr round nose flat point through it ( can't believe I forgot the 148gr HBWC's). Great DA and SA trigger! Sights are very nice, better than the ones on my 617, although they need some adjustment. VERY comfortable to shoot and I can already tell it will be quite accurate. Great gun!!

Oh, I traded in one of my glock's for it. I only have 1 semi-auto left now......

No better way to spend a day then buying a nice revolver and going to the range. I would say enjoy your new friend, but I think you already are.

I was also lured into a local gun store, or two, on my way home today. One and a very clean S&W Mod 30-2 2” with the original box in the display case. Boy did it look good. But I went home empty handed.

Can't tease us like this without pics bro!:D

Dang it, you stole my avatar! :p I'd say you got a good bargain, hard to beat a nice K-frame!

The avatar pic is my best group, so far, with my Henry 357 where I wasn't using a rest. Standing, indoors, using a red dot scope.
K-frames and GP100s are my favorites.

I'll give you all a pic ... my 15-3, came with box, tool, wax-paper, original price tag and store receipt! Still un-fired (I do have one that I shoot) -- sat in a grandma's nightstand drawer for 30 years or so ...
My favorite .38 revolver of all time.

Thats the one! Did you do something to the front sight or is there a lighting thing happening in that pic?

Think its a trick of the light.....

K frames are great, Ive had a bunch over the years. Currently have a Victory model and just bought that 6" M19.
A blued, round- butt snubby 19 is still on my bucket list. I think its the best looking revolver every made. I very rarely feed magnums to a K-frame (would rather not crack the forcing cone), but I like having the capability to fire them if necessary.

You now have the best shooter in the revolver realm , congratulations!

I've always considered the S&W M15 a "must have" revolver. I really can't imagine being without one. Did for a while but took care of that! Many, including the 67, have passed through my hands; and I wish I'd kept a couple more of them. Top is my M15 and bottom is its little sister an M18 .22lr.

Trading a Glock for a S&W revolver, especially a nice M15 is a good deal any day!

I had that very same thought as soon as I read what kidneyboy posted; only I think it's a great deal!
