Sounds like someone needs to be suspended or possibly fired.

I can’t imagine a single reason a police officer would be justified in discharging a weapon in a school other than to stop a crime.

I cannot imagine a reason for the weapon to be handled, or chambered in a middle school under normal circumstances. Dude needs to be reprimanded hard, and they need to re-examine protocol for handling a weapon inside of a school. That gun should stay holstered at all times.

A chambered gun isn't the problem.

The only was a gun goes off is by someone messing with it. No reason for him to messing with it at all.

If the MSM gets a hold of this they'll be no living it down.

I agree that the gun isn’t the problem, but in a middle school where the kids are as wild as they will ever be they are more likely to mess with the officers gun. Should not be cocked locked and ready to rock.

Ok, I'm donning my tinfoil hat now. Does it not seem like these are Liberal-plants to derail all the "arm the teachers" talk?
another thread just got closed because someone was speculating something similar

Personally, I think we need to discuss the possibility although I doubt it. I suspect it's just police officers being on edge as there have been tons of threats and they're under the microscope.

"This... is a Glock fowtay, as far as I know, I'm the only one in this room qualified to..."

Sounds familiar.

As with any handling of firearms, safety is key. Somewhere there was a breach of one or more of the four rules:
  1. All guns are to be treated as if they are loaded.
  2. Never point the gun at anything you are not willing to destroy.
  3. Keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot.
  4. Be sure of your target and what is beyond it.
