SO I fronted my hard earned cash in November of 2017 for a Gemtec GM-22 suppressor and a Gemtech "The One" suppressor. I got my trust established and all paperwork submitted properly. The gunshop, I bought them from is owned by a law firm that handles the trusts and all the paperwork.

SO after fronting over $1600.00 in cash. Here I sit with probably many more months to go. Although my applications had the new bar codes that are supposed to save the ATF time. My Trust is new and will have to be reviewed and placed on file.

SO anyone else waiting? No way to check the status. Just sit and wait!!!!!!

Welcome to the NFA game :D

The trick is to forget about it for a few months after you confirm that your check/payment went through. Then you get a call one day and Surprise! You can go pick up your new toy!

Nope. When I want a new can, I go build it and file a form 3 :D

But I've been where you are, and it sucks while you're waiting, but worth it in the end!

If you're in good with the employees at the shop who are on the FFL, get them to come to the range with you and you can use your toy while you wait.

I always get annoyed that by the time you receive the can, it's already cheaper to buy again.

Best thing you do now is stop thinking about it, then your dealer will surprise you one day with a phone call that it's approved.

According to NFA Tracker the times are still trending downward and look to be around 6 months. You've still probably got another month or two anyway.

If it makes you feel any better, the fact that it is your first submission with the trust makes no difference. Even if they do keep the trust on file (I believe they do not), the process won’t be any faster next time.

Nov 2017? I have a can that has been in "pending" status since Nov 2016! This is can # 7, and NFA item #9. I have been waiting for my FBI background check since Jan 2018. Right now, 507 days and counting. I also got a FBI background check in Feb 2018 to buy a handgun that was granted in like 3 minutes. I'm pretty sure I could adopt a human child in less time.

Welcome to the NFA waiting game! I don't like waiting for anything but I have found that the wait for machine guns are the worst. Mainly because there is no such thing as a cheap machine gun. Paying $10,000 or more for an item I can't play with is very infuriating! Have you signed up for http://www.nfatracker.com/nfa-transfer-time-tracking/ ?

SO its October 21 and still no word. They received everything Dec 5, 2017.

It just takes time. I have been seeing November thru March submissions come back in the past few weeks.

Have you called to check on its status?

I did mine in mid February, using a trust. I paid for four stamps. Took 9 months.

I want another pistol Suppressor, since I have 45 ACP and 9 mm pistols. My Suppressor has an adapter for both but I want a dedicated one for each.

I’m thinking of another rifle Suppressor since have a 300 AAC and several 5.56 mm rifles.

I called Friday. They said my application is currently at the FBI awaiting a background check and there is a back log.

Don't get me started. ATF is sitting on a ticking time bomb WRT Form 4 processing times. Especially for machine guns, where the purchaser has tens of thousands of dollars tied up. If it ever gets in front of an unbiased court, the Federal Government will either wind up being handed a 30-60 day window to approve, or have to start paying interest on the purchase price - probably at a fairly stiff interest rate.

That's a nice pipe dream, but it's never gonna happen. NFA purchases are luxury items, and there has never been a limit placed on processing times, nor is there going to be.

There is no front log.

There is something of a bell curve (although I believe it is skewed to longer times) where some people get theirs through the system more quickly than others. I has nothing to do with bias against you if you are one of the tardy ones. A buddy of mine bought suppressors days apart and the first one took three months longer than the second one...using the same trust, and neither was a first suppressor purchase for him. However, each was processed by a different person. Looks like you are on the long tail. You can keep calling, but nothing will change as a result of it.

The NFA branch isn't there to make purchasing NFA items easy or fast. They are just there to accomplish their end of the bargain.

It could be worse, much worse.

Adopt? My brother you could make one in less time!

338 days of lost money and still nothing over at the FBI in a pile for background check as of today. Hunting season opens Saturday guess I wont get rid of the ringing in my ears!!!!

I guess I shouldn't be complaining. I have only been waiting 210 days so far. Of course, that's 18144000 seconds. :(

No reason you can't wear hearing protection. I did while hunting before getting a suppressor and still do today.

I rather enjoy not having ringing ears after shooting while hunting. But that's because 1) I have cans and 2) i also rather enjoy hearing the woods while I hunt and can't be bothered with limiting my hearing.

The animals have much better senses. No reason we should have to further limit our already limited senses because of bureaucratic BS.
