looking to identify year of manufacture black powder shotgun

The proofmarks on the bottom of the barrel indicate English manufacture. "Manton" would be John Manton of London. Nice 13 bore (similar to gauge) single barrel shotgun. Made prior to the Civil War, probably 1825 -1830. John died in 1834.

Not likely during that time.....percussion wasn't widespread if even in use til the 30's. Mantons were made longer than John was alive.

Alexnder Forsyth's original patent on the percussion ignition expired in 1822, and if I remember correctly, Manton began producing percussion guns almost immediately. It was so quick, that many urged Forsyth to file a patent infringment lawsuit, but he did not.

My bad. 1820 is what my reference notes as the date of the invention.
 
Joseph Manton could also be a possibility.
that is what I was wondering,if this gun was English manufacture or Belgiun, Later on they were proofed in Birmingham but manufactured in Belgium
