What is your ‘funnest’ gun?

bannockburn, I’d never heard of the Beretta Model 70 until I saw your post. It looks like it might be the predecessor of the Cheetah which I’d dearly love to own.

I only mentioned my funnest rifle in a previous post. My funnest handgun is my Buck Mark Camper.

What is your ‘funnest’ gun?

My Armi-Jager AP-74. It's an AR-15 look-alike made with zinc castings. Very accurate. And because of the AR-15 buffer system, essentially zero recoil with 22 LR.

The Beretta Model 70 series (Models 70 through 76 along with Models 100 through 102), were introduced in the late 1950s. Basically they featured improvements to the Models 1934/1935 and were available in .22, .32, and .380. They were eventually replaced by the Model 81 series (like your Model 85 Cheetah), in the mid 1980s.

This goes to my ruger American ranch in 7.62x39.

nothing like using cheap steel case ammo to put holes right next to each other from a distance.

Since this is on the Rifle Forum;

Uberti 1873 carbine in 32-20.

The most fun though is my 45-70 Pedersoli Rolling Block with half round / half octagon barrel with Lee Shaver tang rear sight and globe front sight. Dang thing is very heavy but I used it to kill a buffalo sitting position using cross sticks from 165 yards and shot a 600 yard shooting match clean.

But the little Uberti carbine is more practical and easier to carry around.

Hmm, tough question, but here are a few of my favorite ones to shoot. My customized 1916 Spanish Mauser/FR-7.62x39 (it looks like an FR-7 but chambered in 7.62x39) , H&K MP5 22lr clone, Chinese Type 56 sks, and finally, my Chinese T53 Mosin Nagant. :) I have too many favorites..

Impossible question to answer for me. "Fun" is something I experience, and there are lots of firearms that provide that feeling. My interests tend to focus on one for a while, then switch to another.

At the moment, I'm enjoying breaking in and developing loads for a customized Remington 700 SPS Varmint that I had rechambered in .243 Ackley Improved. Started with a stock Remington that I got on sale for under $400. Had a local custom gun builder pull and rechamber the barrel, true the action, and bed it in a Grayboe Renegade. I replaced the trigger with a Timney. The fun for me is not just in shooting it; it has been the whole project, which now continues with load development.

Right behind it is a Remington Model 7 that I'm rebuilding. Started off as a youth model that I bought second hand. First thing I did was replace the bolt shroud to get rid of the stupid J-lock. Same gunsmith noted above pulled the barrel and trued the action for me. Just this past weekend I installed a new McGowen "Remage" barrel, also in .243 Ackley. It's now sitting in an H.S. Precision sporter stock, waiting for an afternoon or a Saturday when the wind isn't blowing so hard to sight it in and go through the barrel break-in sequence.

Ask me again in six months and I might have a different answer ...

That's hard to decide. There is different types of fun to me. As in, "can do this all day with a smile" fun or "shooting a hand cannon" type of fun and all sorts in between.

Guns that are so fun and inexpensive to feed so I could shoot all day are;

CZ 527 Carbine 7.62x39
CZ 512 22WMR
Rossi R92 38spl/357mag
Rock River Nat Match 223 Wylde
Ruger 22/45 Lite
Ruger Blackhawk 357/38/9mm with 9mm cylinder
Rock Island 1911 9mm

Guns that make me smile every time I pull the trigger are;

Glock 20 10mm
Glock 20 9x25Dillon
Smith and Wesson 460v

Guns that are not so fun to shoot;

Smith and Wesson 460v (lol)
Diamondback DB9

Fantastic! I'd like to have one of those myself. :cool:

Anyone can have one, just takes some ingenuity, a decent rifle to start with, locating parts, and in my case, my brother-in-law's father helped to put on the new barrel, the machine work, and parkerizing for trade in a sporterized arisaka rifle, with reloading dies and ammo in the deal. :)

The funnest would be my Beretta CX4 (40 S&W), then my Winchester 9422, followed by my AR 15, and finally my trapdoor and/or muzzle loader, black powder always bring a smile to my face I just don't like cleaning it up.

My Steyr m1912 pistol is funny in 2 ways , it looks funny and does not have a detachable magazine. it uses stripper clips of obsolete 9mm steyr ammo which closely resembles 9mm largo or 38acp. It is very accurate though, I can consistently hit soda cans at 70 yards with it.
