Thanks for that feedback, and kind of what I have been thinking about today. Stick with 3/8" and no worries. :)

Holsters. Some size comparisons.

I have a High Noon holster that was for the EMP that my younger son has now. The P-365 fits very well in it.

I have a Desantis E-Gat holster for the Shield 9/40 and the P-365 fits great in it.

I have a Fobus Paddle holster for the Shield 9/40, and the P-365 will fall into it, rattle around, and fall right back out of.

Walk along, I would jut like to thank you for taking the time to do a excellent review of the gun. A lot of folks do not fully comprehend the work that goes into it. Any one interested in the New Sig would do well to find this forum and see your pics and reviews. I have enjoyed your review, and I am not even interested in the gun for myself.
I love shooting small guns, and as I mentioned found the Nano which for me personally is the nicest shooter in this subcompact class I have come across. Also one of the smallest which makes the Sig, Kahr and Nano close competitors, which will ultimately be decided on by the individual shooter.
One thing that sticks out in your review, is the Trigger on the Sig. From the description it sounds very similar to my Nano. (still breaking in at 6.1 lbs. Range friends have theirs at around 5,5lbs of pull.). Here is the thing. I actually searched out the Nano, Sig, Kahr style trigger. I wanted to get away from the light crisp trigger. My LC9S is down to 4lbs and I just became too leery of it for Carry.
As a avid shooter, my personal opinion is that triggers as your have described are ideal for Carry and as you say, defense work. No this guns are NOT target guns in any shape or form. But for fast center mass shooting, these triggers can be easily learned and can be as good or even better for fast action.(at least they are for myself as I am already in just the short time of two months and 1500 rounds ,shooting the Nano better than the LC9S which I have shot thousands of rounds of the years.) I find these triggers as a ASSET.

So my point is I give kudos to Sig for coming out with a trigger as you have described. In fact, I think Sig thought long and hard as to what will be a ideal trigger for a small sub-compact 9mm. I get the impression that a new trend away from the very light triggers. will be the norm in these small compact guns. JMO.

The New Sig is a winner for sure. A lot of great features not to mention the innovative magazine. And congratulations on your prized little 9. Keep the post coming. Great to read and enjoy. Thank you.

PS Is that your personal range?

For the intended purpose of the gun I agree wholeheartedly. While I have and carry a 1911 with a "nicer" "crisper", and definitely lighter, trigger, I have also shot 1911s all my life and get a lot of trigger time with many guns. In a high stress situation the trigger on a defensive gun does not need to be too light, no matter what "style" it is, and since so many people who will purchase these guns will not get the range/practice time we will, it needs to be a "safe" trigger for them in a highly adrenaline charged incident.

My wife and I bought a little piece of property four years ago this August, so at age 57 I realized my life's dream of owning a piece. One of these days we will move there as well. I shoot handguns at all that steel, and rifles at the one in the back (108 yards) I have a target stand I made that holds two 2x2s that I can staple cardboard to which in turn I can staple targets to for informal 100 yard target shooting. I did the "range" a little at a time over three years, building the deck last July/August (in 95+ degree heat).

After the range trip, and then field stripping/cleaning/greasing/oiling I have been dry firing the snot out of the P-365 the last two days. Pulling the trigger all the way through quickly, not slowly.

3/8" is the bare minimum in my mind, and it sounds like you are there as well.

This is the best price delivered I have seen for a 3/8" full sized Silhouette.

$135.97 shipped

Honestly, that is a pretty good price, especially if it includes shipping. I don't think I have ever seen one with a single hole before.

Excellent review. Very well written and informative. I have a first generation Shield in 9mm and am very happy with it. I have been thinking of getting a P365 but they are currently unavailable in my area. Will go to a range that rents guns and try one out when they get a couple in stock.

The steel target came today, very nice, hardly needs prep to paint, a little wire brushing and I'll paint it. I also made a "hanger" for it that fits over a 2x4. I already have a home made stand for it made from an old heavy duty IV Pole stand. I need to drill the hole in the hanger larger, paint it, buy a carriage bolt, a couple of nylon lock nuts, and washers. I already have a spring.

More range time with the P365 today.
Another few hundred rounds down range.
NOT as accurate as the Walther P99C that I shot alongside the P365.
But for a very small S/D pistol it did very well.

The New Sig is obviously going to be a top seller. Two months ago I found the Nano and totally found the most perfect gun for my sub-Compact 9mm CCW. Just got back from the range today and now 1700 flawless rounds. Personally like the fact that it does not have a takedown lever or slide Lock release. I was surprised to find out how much more I like this feature. I also like Modular guns especially since owning three of them now. However I do see that the New Sig 365 will have a MODULAR unit available in Late Spring.
Thanks for the great review.

Well now that is interesting, and should make the "old" ones cheaper.

My "pocket" sized gun is a .32 Seecamp, which is a classic, but has its limitations and must be kept very clean and well lubed or it can simply quit working. The inside parts look they they were cut out with a rough file. :)

At any rate, the little Pico my FIL gave my wife is a good little gun, so now you have me very curious about the Nano as a potential pocket gun. I don't consider the P-365 a pocket gun, although it will fit in some.

I handled the 365 a couple weeks ago at my LGS . I really liked the feel of it in my hand compared to the Shield & PPS . I thought it also had the best trigger . I can see one in my future , but I am going to let y'all test them a while first .

Thank you much for the testing, Walkalong! Interesting that it had less recoil than the Shield. I’ve found the Shield to be super soft shooting.

Great to hear yours like the 124g HST rounds. They are some of the finest carry rounds for a short barrel 9.

The Nano appears to be close to the same size, a little smaller, but still too heavy for myself for a pocket gun. Even though it weighs a few ounces less. And of course more ammo in the mag, more weight. Since you bought the 365, which obviously is a nice gun, then I would stick with it. The Nano does conceal well in a Pancake holster or if you like IWB it would be a good fit. That said, the Pico is one tough Hombre. I have put thousands of rounds through my two and they have turned out to be two of the most reliable guns I own. And they shoot Plus P or Hot ammo milder than most shoot standard. Summer carry, they will get a lot of attention. Spend some time handling and shooting the Pico will reap big rewards.

Matbe I should spend some time with it. I broke out my old RCBS .380 dies after about decades of non use and ran off some reloads with Federal 95 Gr JSPs I had for another application, but they shot the poorest of the ones I tried in that app, so I figured I could use them to make the Pico go bang.

I just put 120 rounds through mine for the first time. Mixed results.

It shoots low. With a center hold on a 6" bull at 10 yards, the hits cluster on the bottom of the bull.

Also, there is an inexplicable failure of the last-shot hold-open on about 5-10% of magazines. I spent about 20 rounds shooting single shots from both magazines trying to duplicate this malfunction and had it happen twice with American Eagle 115-gr. FMJ ammunition. I experienced no such malfunction with 147-gr. HST, but only fired 20 rounds of that ammunition. This was never an issue except on the last round of the magazine.

A bit disappointed and will call Sig tomorrow. I wouldn't say I'd be completely unconfident in carrying it now, but it is worrisome.

On the plus sides, I also subjectively report milder recoil than the Shield. It is a very easy gun to shoot, and it is very easy to reacquire a sight picture. Very pleasant-shooting gun.

I have heard that this can be an issue depending on your grip. Apparently some folks have reported that they are somehow "riding" the slide with their weak hand, preventing it from locking back on empty. A slight adjustment of the grip seemed to solve their problems.

Not sure if that is your issue or not, but thought I would mention it.

Thanks, I tried to induce magazine failure several times and was very cognizant of my grip toward the end. They're sending me a shipping label. They told me that all the sights are regulated for frame hold, which is a little annoying to someone who shoots with a 6 o'clock hold, but certainly explains why it grouped low.

I'd like to get out and test it again. It may be very grip sensitive. I'd be concerned about that from the perspective that I can't always guarantee a perfect grip, especially in an emergency. But my concern is limited a bit because it's always the last round in the magazine and it's a 5% occurrence.

Before you send your gun to Sig. Have someone else shoot it to see if they can duplicate your issues. Mine shoots exactly to POA-POI at 30'.

Try shooting the gun with one hand with your LEFT hand to see if the slide locks back. There is a 99% chance this is a user error issue. watch this short video. It will solve a lot of problems for a LOT of people ans save Sig from a lot of unnecessary returns.
