New LCP going back to Ruger

Bought a new LCP last night. Ran 50 CCI Brass Blazer and 10 Hornady American Gunner with multiple FTE and FTF issues. I cleaned/lubed the gun and polished the feed ramp prior to shooting. I spoke with Ruger today and they recommended me sending it in. So off it goes on Monday! I’m sure they will handle it, but it is frustrating. On a positive, that little gun is accurate at 7 yards.
 
Wow, Sounds like you got a bum steer there. Both my LCP ( first year) and new LCP II have been flawless.

Ruger is really good about making things right, I think they’ll fix up whatever ails it pretty quickly.
 
I just sent my S&W M&P Bodyguard back last week for the second time for the same issue it has had since almost when I first bought it. Broken firing pin and something broken in the trigger. This is less than 50 rounds after getting it back the first time for that issue which was less than 50 rounds before the first time. Also, when it did work, many of the rounds needed multiple hammer strikes to get the primer to go off. I can not trust it to function when I need it. I will sell it when it comes back and get an LCP 2 or Sig .380 for pocket carry.

I typically would never have bought a S&W semi-auto in the first place, but at the time, the Ruger LCP 2 did not exist and the S&W had many more features than the original LCP (slide lock, second strike capable, easier take down, better sights). I really dislike the Bodyguard and would never recommend it to anyone.

Good for Ruger for the replacement. That is why I own mostly Rugers and have had virtually zero problems with them. I doubt S&W will do anything but replace the firing pin again and ship it back without another word. I will not even test fire it before I sell it off.
 
I have more Rugers than anything. It's good to hear, yet again, that they stand behind their products.
 
Have faith. I have had to without issue and several friends have them without issue. Every company makes a lemon once in a while, but seems like they are testing you right. It can be frustrating after a new purchase, but it is a very convenient gun to carry. I never leave home without one now. Before the lcp I did sometimes
 
It will be a new serial number and they will ship it to an FFL. At least that’s what happened with the 2 they’ve replaced for me.
 
Faulty LCP II last year.

didn't want one this time so I went Bodyguard .380 and am happy.
 
Ruger's been sending out a few lemons recently for sure. Our store has had a few bad ones in lately. Two LCPII's that wouldnt lock back on empty mags, a Security 9 and an LC9S that both had loose front sights (drift with light finger pressure).
 
I don't mind being a "beta tester" for Ruger because they always make it right in the end.

I bought one of the original LCPs that had to go back on recall. Sent a first run GP100 in .44 Spl back to have them fix the front sight and replace the cylinder with consistently sized chambers (original chambers were all over-sized and inconsistently so). First run PC Carbine had to go back for service; they replaced the whole barrel assembly.

One might ask, why would you keep doing business with a company that doesn't get it right the first time? I do because they do get it right eventually, and they are exceptionally easy to work with. Not to mention the many Rugers I have that have been perfect out-of-the-box. I like working with a company that listens to its customers and then works hard to keep them happy.

I had to send back a replacement LCP II for that problem. Pretty frustrating but they fixed it.
 
Got my new LCP today. After I cleaned and lubed it, I shot 5 mags of a mixture that contained Blazer brass, AE, Critical Defense, and American Gunner. I had a few stovepipes on my 4 and 5th mag. The failures were with the ball ammo. At this point I feel the failures were from a dirty gun. It ran great when it was clean. I’ll keep shooting it and see what happens.

I really doubt the failures were from a dirty gun. You did not even shoot a box of ammo.

Contact them again.

I bought my LCP (Gen 2 original) in April and I had multiple failures to feed - basically one or two every mag in 100 rds. Sent it to Ruger, they replaced the slide assembly (with barrel) and hammer lock assembly, after that I fired about 100 rounds more of FMJ and a 20 rd box of Federal HydraShok JHP without a single failure.

I also doubt it was from a dirty gun. Put it this way, any gun that can't reliably fire after 30 rounds is not reliable for SD. And I would expect LCP to at least go through 100 or so without a hickup.

This sucks, but the only remedy I see is to send it back to Ruger, and make sure they know it's a 2nd time around.

This is very frustrating. After reading about extraction issues, I checked my extractor tension, and is very tight. There are no chips or worn parts on it either. I wonder if I limp wristed it. I shot some SD ammo after the failures, while focusing on my technique then, and I didn’t have any issues.
 
Took the gun out today and had failure to extract with double feeds on every round fired. I double checked my technique for limp wristing and I know that is not the culprit. I emailed the person who handled my last returned LCP. We will see what they say on Monday. This is frustrating to say the least.
 
Update Got my LCP back today. Took nine days, and they replaced the slide. Apparently the extractor spring and extractor pocket was defective. They shot 48 rounds of CCI Blazer and Hornady Custom without failure. I will try it out next weekend. So far, I’m very pleased with Ruger CS.
 
I am glad Ruger treated you well. I love my LCP, it is one of my favorite carry guns! I hope your's serves you as well as mine has served me.
