I have had this Revelation R100B for almost 30 years and gave it away today. Back in the early 90’s I killed the largest squirrel I have killed with it. I used it to shoot rats in a corn field once, that was fun. It’s a great shooter but mine no longer.
I also gave away my Riptile ammo can that I painted. I also put a few things in the can.
Now some may wonder why would someone give such things away. Here’s a little story.
My Ex ended up marrying the reason I divorced her. That was 15 years ago and water under the bridge. They had a little boy and named him Gunner. Gunner was about three when his dad suddenly passed away from a heart attack. Gunner had it tough for some time, but his mom met a nice guy and settled down. Gunner is 100% boy and is outdoors as much as possible. He loves to fish and camp and looks up to his big brother Austin. Austin has been teaching Gunner about gun safety and how to shoot.
Today Gunner turned 11yrs old. I asked his mom if it would be ok if I gave him a 22 rifle for his birthday. She said it would be ok. I asked Austin which Gus should we give him and he said a 22 single shot. So yesterday I dug out a few and Austin picked the R100B.
I had given Gunner a backpack like his older brother’s which he calls his go bag. I got to thinking that everything young boy needs an ammo can and items for his go bag.
So today we were at my daughter’s house for my grandson’s birthday party. After the present were opened and cake and ice creams was eaten I had Austin sit down with Gunner and give him the ammo can. Gunner’s eyes lit up and a big smile came to his face when he saw what was in the can.
Then Austin pulled out an old gun case and told Gunner to open it. He did and there was silence. He looked up at me ans asked, This is mine? I told him happy birthday. He opened the bolt and checked the chamber and sat there with his first gun. A little later he came up to me, gave me a hug and said, Thank you Mr Lee.
So today I gave away an old 22 rifle and got a hug in return. I think I got the better end of the deal.
