Hi all,

Long time lurker and have been learning a lot regarding reloading from this community. I am finally travelling to the USA to meet some friends and do some shooting. I will be visiting a buddy in Indiana, as a grateful guest I intend to buy him some shooting targets as a courtesy for having me over.

I am looking to buy him a plate tree (swinging target) in the Indiana Evansville region. Can anyone recommend a gun store that has items like that in stock?

Additionally we intend to do some shooting, can anyone recommend tourist friendly gunclubs where I can get some training on long range shooting? Or other shooting related activities in this region?

I know google is my friend :) and already found places like warriordynamics.net and Red Brush Rifle range but I value personal experience from the THR community above Google information.

I can’t help you with any of your questions. So I’ll just say welcome and I hope you have a great time during your visit.

I would suggest if you know what you want to buy that you think about ordering it online and having it shipped to your friend. The cost will probably a lot less and they’ll have a nice surprise when the big brown truck (UPS) arrives. Time it right and you could even be there when it comes.

Yes! I can recommend an Ar500 steel target manufacturer in your area.

"Make it Ring Targets" https://makeitringtargets.com

This weekend (4th of July) there is a 25% off sale!!! Code is Freedom76, no shipping charge on most items!

I really like their "bulls-eye" target 10" plate with 3" hole in middle and 4" plate behind the hole, and their rimfire KYL swingers stand

The world, for being such a vast expanse can be very small as well. I have kin in Miami and Denver Counties, and a quite-good internet friend in Evansville.

Enjoy your stay, Indiana is a pleasant State with some very fine people in it.

I wasn't sure what I would find when I saw "tourist shooter".

That said, if you want a very "murican" experience, talk him into a trip to Whittaker Guns in West Louisville Ky. It's actually not where it sounds like it would be, and I LOVE that shop.

You do realize you do need to share some pics and accounts of your adventure, right?
Everyone thanks for the warm welcome. Also now that you mention it, tourist shooter does sound a bit click baity

I will make sure to post some pics when I return, these meetups have been an interesting endeavour for the last couple of years.
My Indiana buddy has met up with us in the Netherlands twice already and I introduced and took him shooting on my range as well.

There is a world of difference between the way shooting and gun ownership is handled in the Netherlands but I am very happy to see whatever gun culture I bump into It always draws the same warm like minded people (and around the world the anti gunners are the same as well).

If you are interested, I can also go into some details on how it goes in the NLD, we have no right to arms but only under select (competitive) reasons we can own specific weapons.
Despite that I am at 5 firearms (the max) including Sig 226, Rem700P and an AK derivative. You just need to check a lot of government boxes and have an active competitive reason for them.

I don’t know about others but I’d love to hear all you’ll share.

I can’t imagine not being free, although that nightmare is a real possibility here in Virginia the way our state is being changed, and by those who want to disarm us.

5 per person or per household? If it’s per person I might would have to start an orphanage...
