I'm a Smith & Wesson guy, but from time to time something else catches my eye. In this case it was a pair of Colt Officers Models.

1959 Colt Officers Model Match, in 38 Special. It's been fired a few times, but I don't think it too many times. The lockup and timing are just like brand new. The cylinder closes with a nice solid "snick." There is a very slight finish wear at the muzzle and one small spot on the cylinder, probably from resting on a shelf or in a drawer.

The other one I tried to ignore, but a few days later it was still there. This one is a Colt Officers Model Target, in 22 LR, from 1947. I gave up and put it on layaway.

It's not quite as nice as the 38. The grips are wrong I'm told, but still a nice set of grips to have. There are a couple of blue wear spots, but anything that looks like wear in the picture is the result of poor lighting, and poor photography. Again, lockup and timing are spot on.

I’m a S&W guy too, but you can color me jealous. What an outstanding addition to your collection. I want to see a range report, target pictures, etc. Please don’t make these safe queens, enjoy the heck out of them!!

Oh, I'm sure I'll shoot them once in a while, but I don't shoot often enough to give any more than impressions. So, they'll probably be "safe queens" more or less.

As for posting pictures of targets, I'm such a poor shot, nothing I could post would show anything approaching what the guns can do. When I leave the range, I'm just happy if they say, "Come back again."

Great find! I would have had a hard time walking away from those Colts as well and I'm mostly a S&W fan too!
