I'm looking at a Ruger Precision Rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor that comes with a Zeiss Conquest Hd5 5-25x50 scope. It's the magnification I want, but don't have much experience with the Zeiss Conquest scope line. They seem to have decent reviews, but wondering if people here have them and what their thoughts are.

Thanks

I have a Conquest HD5 3-15x42 with the Rapid-Z 800 Ballistic Reticle. I rely on the ballistic reticle, so I don't know if the scope tracks. Eye relief is consistent regardless of the magnification.

My previous hunting scopes were Nikon Prostaffs and a Leupold VX-1. The Zeiss is much clearer and more comfortable to shoot with fixed eye relief.

There's also software and an app to calculate the ballistic reticle.

Overall, the 3-15x42 I have is a good hunting scope, but I have no idea whether the 5-25x50 would be a good precision rifle scope.

The only HD5 5-25s I see are second focal plane scopes with reticles that aren't mil or moa based. Not the type of scope I would choose for an RPR I wanted to use for prs type shooting. I've had a 3-9x42 conquest and an HD5 2-10x42 on hunting rifles, and for that purpose they worked well and looked good optically, but I wouldn't put one on my 6.5 RPR, different tools for different purposes. I will say that when the 3-9x42 lost zero, Zeiss took care of me.

If you could get the package for a good enough price, you might be able to flip the Zeiss and come out ahead, but keep in mind that those scopes are being cleared out for ~$700 new, I'd count on being being able to sell a used one in the $450 - $500.
