Air pistol for winter practice

I have a Beeman P3 (Weihrauch HW40) that is a single stroke pneumatic that I really like... nice adjustable trigger too... I have a laser mounted on mine where I can still see the open sights... makes for some fun shooting !

Pyramyd Air has them for around $230... similar to a few other places that I just saw online.

Not sure CO2 will make you happy in the long run, Crossman is neat with that custom shop though.

The P17 looks a lot like the P3... but a big price difference... from doing some looking, it looks like the P17 is made in China from stamped metal, where the P3 is made in Germany from machined metal.

I would think the P3 would be much better quality.

The Beeman P17 is under $40.00. I went to Wally World and it was on sale for $22.00, but rang up at the register for $17.00. This was a couple weeks back, and I have had a ball with it basement shooting. There are youtube video reviews on it worth a look. I prefer more high end, but for the price I was surprised and pleased.

You have to ask yourself what you want.....do you want to practice marksmanship that is one thing. Do you want the look and feel of your "real" gun that is another.

For me the "action" pistols they call them are accurate enough to do the job, and also give me the same feel, same holster, same controls as my ______.

Heck, why wait for winter? I sit under my patio cover in the shade and shoot a variety of co2, both pellet and BB, pistols in the hot summertime.. I built a bullet trap from some scrap 14 guage metal and 3/4" plywood for the bottom and sides. It handles the BBs with no problem. It works in the garage in winter also.

For many years on the "Yellow" forum, there were a ton of post about the P17.It was really a very popular Pistol. While most Chinese clones were no where near the quality of the German guns, the P17 was a anomaly. Touted as one of the best buys for air Pistols. Many post on changing seals, how to care for them etc. I ended up buying two of them. And yes, they have been one heck of a buy. Still running strong.
For shooting indoors, my favorite is the Walther CP88. About a solid built pellet gun as you will find. Used often and popular with the European Iron Plate shooting. It will run you about $250.00, but really well built and a great shooter.
