Y'all carry Boot Knives?

I own boot knives. However, these days I seldom wear boots.

I have been known to slip a Gerber Guardian in my boot from time to time. I wore that same knife on the suspenders of my LBE when I was in the Army many, many years ago.

I used to clip an inexpensive small folder to my steel toe work boots years ago. It was nice to have a sharp box cutter within reach, especially when I was kneeling or squatting.

Nope here too. I believe that where I lived (CA) when I wore boots and went to bars that it was a felony to have a concealed blade like that.

I haven't worn a boot knife in decades, but when I did it was a cheap Gerber and it fit badly in my boot. Rubbed my ankle raw.

One serves as the fob for my truck key.

No, I did a one time carry a 357 in my boot , but since I retired I seldom wear boots any

I used a right handed IWB clip holster - clipped inside the right side of the left boot.

I'm sure it probably is. My reasons for it way back then were just ... lame.

I never carried a blade on my ankle -it was always a folder and in my pocket if not in a spare mag holder on my duty gear (and down here in paradise boots aren't very practical unless you're working construction.. or riding a motor). I did carry a small five shot Chief on my ankle for many years (the early rigs in my era were sold under the "Legster" brand) but as I moved into the last half of my career real life experience taught me that small sidearms were an invitation to a bad ending if you actually tried to use one... so.... I began carrying my duty weapon always, even when off-duty (either inside the waistband or actually on my ankle...). I started out with an S&W 669, then actually carried a Sig 229 in an ankle rig- all the way until I retired out... To this day I have some noticeable dis-coloration on the inside of my weak side ankle where that rig was... No, you weren't going to do any running while carrying a piece on your ankle but if needed you certainly were equipped to provide any opponent a real surprise...

As far as boot knives go... just the mention of them reminds me of how we used to train our rookies (and in-service folks - no matter how hard-headed they were...). We always emphasized that if you ever found a weapon on anyone you were dealing with - you only found the FIRST weapon.. Making a point of looking for that second weapon is a really good idea for those wanting to go home at the end of their shift (and also for any citizen holding a bad actor until the cavalry arrived....).

i have the same problem with boot knives as i do ankle holsters, I dont care to take my pants off to get at the item in question. What with bell bottoms being out of style and all
