Really getting a strong urge! Henry single shot.

I'm a bit embarrassed. I have a .44 mag sitting in my safe that I've not had time to shoot yet ...

And if they come out with a .357, I'll buy one of those, too.

Would love to at least see one in person....... I've yet to see one anywhere. Been wanting to see one ever since they were announced. I'm seriously considering one due to having a soft spot for single shots. Life could be sweet with either a .308 or a .44 Mag.. I'm thinking of a light, handy woods rifle for deer, if it's in .308 it'll get loaded down to about ".30-30 on steroids" velocities with a lot more bullet choices than my lever gun.

If one were to purchase one of these in, say, 45/70, where on the strength spectrum would it fall between an original trapdoor and a Siamese mauser conversion/Ruger #1?

(Asking for a friend :D )

Best call them and ask. If I were to guess probably marlin loads, but like I said call them.

It is a beautiful rifle for the money. I paid under $400 for it at Cabela’s. I had to order it because they didn’t have any on the shelves anywhere in the West.

I have only fired HSM Cowboy loads through it and I can hit 4” sporting clays on a hillside at 50 yards all afternoon long. (Note: not recommended if you expect to use your arm the next day) I have not adjusted the sights in any way.

I love this rifle. I am considering one in .223. I did call Henry to ask about 30-30 and other chamberings. They said they would have to see how these sold before expanding the line.

I am sure if you buy one you will not be disappointed.

Wow! that is beautiful Pat. Congrats! How does it handle with the 45-70?

I didn't know about these. I think they look really nice!
I would consider one in .223 and maybe .45-70 (if it doesn't kick too hard).

Would like to see a range report when possible, especially from .45-70 and .308 owners.

They definitely have a good feel. If they came out with it in .357 or .30-30, I would be all over it.
..........When they were first announced, the .30-30 entered my mind immediately. They have had folks inquiring about a .30-30 model but the response is always something like " we have no plans at this time". That's what got me looking into loading down a .308 a bit for .30-30 ballistics per my previous post, as I'm already set to load .308, even though I also do .30-30. A .308 case capacity exceeds the .30-30 by about 7 grs. of water and I'm sure with some experimentation with suitable powders and chronographing that I could indeed have myself a Henry Single Shot 30 cal. with all the ballistics of the mild mannered .30-30 even if Henry isn't making them. My biggest problem so far is that Henry Single Shots are still non-existent around here in any chambering. Heck; I also load 44 Mag. and if I come across one of those first I may even go that route.

Pat Riot

That's one fine looking Henry, especially with the pistol grip stock and having such a nice wood grain to it. Wouldn't mind one in 6.5 Creedmoor or .30-30.

All this fuss over 357, 30/30, 30/06... y’all do realize that this is not an AR that your talking about and that all critters in general have developed armor plating to prevent damage from those old rounds. Come on guys it’s not a 6.5 bore even. When are y’all ever to learn???

Add me to the list, but make mine 32-20 :)and 50-110 :what:

It’s a light rifle. By all rights it should kick like crazy, but it’s really not that bad. Now, I am shooting an HSM 45-70 cast bullet load but HSM does not create light loads. It’s pushing a 405 grain lead RNFP at around 1300 FPS. Not wimpy but not heavy either. The gun really doesn’t buck a lot. Someone designed it well.
