I went shopping with my wife today for flooring (oh yeah) and when we were leaving my wife asked me if I wanted to stop at Field and Stream which was across the road from us.
I was looking for the deluxe control panal kit for my LNL-AP and said to her, why not.
We headed straight to the Hornady rack since I didn't think I'd find it here at a good price, if they even had it, there weren't any.
On the way back out I was walking past a guy stocking a rack and the word "Control" and Hornady orange caught my peripheral vision and I immediately stopped.
There it was on the rack. I picked it up and it was $189.00 which is cheaper than Midway.
The guy stocking the shelf told me " Now you have to know that this is a clearance rack and anything on it is 90% off".
He said that makes that deluxe control panal $19.00. I just looked at him in shock.
I said "What's wrong with them?" The guy said nothing, we just don't want the hassle of sending back to Hornady because they didn't sell so we are putting them on clearance.
He said every thing on this rack is 90% off.
I picked up a brick of Federal Large Pistol Match primers and looked at him. He said "those are $4.00 per thousand".
WIFE, GET ME A CART!
I bought the following:
3) LNL deluxe control panal kit for $19.00 each. (bought all three for the free bullets).
6) 1000 ct boxes of Federal Large Pistol Match primers for $4.00 per thousand.
1) 9mm/357mag bullet feeder die for $2.30
1) RCBS 3 die carbide die set for 45 Colt for $5.50
1) .357mag shell plate for my AP for $3.50
Then I had to run back and get the aluminum tubes for the bullet feeder die. I had to pay $29.95 for them but I didn't mind.

I still can't believe it.
I was out of large pistol primers and I also wanted a control panal and got them both for next to nothing.
Unbelievable!
My receipt said I saved $830.34.
I hate to shop and the whole way home all I heard was "See, you need to shop with me more!" I didn't have a leg to stand on.

Congrats
They don’t sell well as many of us won’t set foot in Dicks/Field & Stream.

They’ve been hurting since they very publicly made anti 2nd Amendment choices

So glad you got good deals. But I’m not sure even with such deals that I’d be enticed to enter their stores. Sometimes we have to put principles ahead of saving money.

I hear what your saying and I don't go in them much either because everything is so overpriced.
I honestly don't know why I decided to go in there, I usually look at those stores as a waste of time because I have a LGS that has most of what I need at really good prices and that's where I shop at, but I'm glad I did now.

tightgroup tiger

Well it looks like Christmas came a might early for you! Definitely made out on that shopping trip!

99% sure I won't be so lucky, but warming up the truck as I type,,,,,

The rest of what he had on the rack was weird stuff that I didn't need or want for any reason.
They did have 5 bags of new 204 brass for like 3.00 per hundred and new Hornady reloading dies for .204 and I regret not buying it now because I could have gave it to someone on here who has a .204. It's such an obscure caliber to me that I didn't want stuck with it.

They only had 4000 of the large Federal Gold metal pistol primers there but when I went back for the tubes for the bullet die, on the way back to check out I went passed the guys working on what was left of the clearance items again and one of them yelled at me and was holding up the other two cartons of primers and said Hey, we found two more cartons of primers, do you want these to? I said HELL YA! and grabbed them on the way past.
They wanted me to take everything on the shelf with me so they didn't have to deal with it. What would I do with 5 sets of .204 ruger dies and what bullets they had were either way heavy for caliber, like 200gr .357mag or way light. Most of them were rifle bullets like .338 magnum and were so light they would either ring or blow up barrels from secondary explosion events. Just stuff that nobody in their right mind would want.

Big time jack pot for me. I'm not usually that lucky.
Walkalong, I followed your post on how consistent Federal primers were. I guess I'll find out now.
I installed the Hornady deluxe control panal on my press this evening. Everything was pretty straight forward except for the Powder lock out die. That thing has me a little baffled. I may have to take it a part to see how it works.
As with most Hornady products the instructions are a little wanting. I set it up the way the directions said and when I run an empty case through it the press stops like I would think it should, I just don't know how to set it up for when powder is in the case and is to low or two high , maybe it will only detect an empty case.
I'll have to call Hornady and find out the finer details of it so I don't screw something up.

But at those prices, they are loosing money. I would be more then happy to help them loose money..

Field and Stream recently opened a store in city I travel to on business. Decided to check them out and even though they were next door to Dicks, I didn't realize it was the same store until I went inside. Really needed a box of .38 XTP bullets to load that night so I figured I'd pick up a few hundred and didn't mind paying a little more since I would have to pay freight ordering online. Well I wasn't prepared for their prices! They actually had very little in the way of handgun components except for 9mm and 45. After passing on the bullets, I saw a clearance rack on the way out and noticed Federal Primers. They were priced at $35 per k which is about what all the local stores get around here, but no one ever has Federal. The sign said 60% off. Since the bullets were so high, I asked a clerk if the $35 was the clearance price and was told it was 60% off marked price. That's $14 per k. I did as tightgroup tiger did, I helped them clear their shelves. Bought all the small and large pistol primers. I load very few large, but can't pass up that deal. Also bought a few sets of dies and some other misc crap and have since traded or sold all and came out real good. I went back a few other times, but no clearance rack and since they are really Dicks, decided even at a deal, no more than I would spend and save I'd just spend it elsewhere. The parking lot there looks just like the one in the picture above every time I ride by. Its in a high rent district and there is no way that place is making a profit even at the prices they get.

NIce score.
Your effort to help the wife shop for flooring was rewarded.
Now with the money you saved on reloading supplies she can buy nicer flooring;)
