Glock 45 - 9mm

Shot the G45 yesterday at my local indoor range. Two boxes of American Eagle 124g FMJ. No hiccups cycled every round. Bottom line, it's a Glock. Now, on the other hand, I believe it's one of the best in the Glock lineup. The combo of a 19 slide and a 17 grip makes it special for those who prefer a larger grip but not a longer barrel. The ergonomics are just about perfect. Basically, a 19X but doesn't use proprietary magazines, and it's black. Mine came with night sights and I'm well pleased with the overall performance of the gun. Makes a good partner with my 19X. 5YHIPEURCBERHPQMKVDEDGYSNM.jpg

I’ve owned my 19x for a few months now and with 1500 rounds through it so far, it’s the best shooting Glock I own. With the magazines I’ve had for my Gen3 17, I have a total of 9 magazines I can put in rotation to shoot with this 19x, and I can carry it in any one of 4 holsters I already own for my Gen3 17 & 19.

I think that’s “Blue Label”, law enforcement gets their Glocks with special discount deals, and these usually have blue labels on the box

Minor quibble, but it's not the 19X that uses the proprietary mags, it's the gen 5 17 that does. My 19x runs all my Gen4 and earlier baseplates fine :)

Speaking of, since the 45 doesnt have the half moon cutout, does it rock Gen 5 baseplates or the gen 4 ones?

No half-moon cutout that feels like a razor blade. The first series of Gen 5 guns was a small disaster. The 19X is interesting but the G45 is now the top Glock!

I really like the 19X because it's a Glock. Unfortunately, it lost the US Army contract because they didn't meet the Army specs at all. The 19X is not modular as was required to be considered. It was also overpriced! Is the Sig P320 a better pistol, in some areas, yes, but in the end, both could be considered based on their own merits!

You can make any 17 mag fit the 19x, just sand it down.
What is the big issue with Gen5 mags that everyone is having. The only gun they don't fit is the 19X. But who has a bunch of Gen5 mags sitting around? I know more people that have the 19X then a Gen5.

Even if I had a gen 5 (I don't) i know i had a pile of 17 mags from gen 3 and 4 before i got the 19X and they all work fine.

Is it pretty dumb to make a gun or mags that dont fit all generations (as Glock traditionally has)? Yes. Were I to buy a gen 5 17, I would spend the few bucks and swap the base plates to gen 4 ones just so everything fits fine, rather than skipping out on (IMO) Glocks best offering, stock.

Why would Glock come out with a new 9mm, and put 45 in the name?
G45, sounds like it ought to be a 45.

Next, they'll come out with a G9 and chamber it in 45.

Because it's Glock's, 45th US Patton. Do you know how the Glock 17 got its numerical designation?

They already crossed that bridge. The Glock 40 is a 10mm. They just number stuff sequentially with introduction.

And this is hardly special to Glock. For instance, a Smith & Wesson model 357 is an alloy-framed revolver chambered in 41 magnum. Because the Model 57 is a blued steel .41 magnum revolver, and the 3 prefix indicates an alloy frame.
