I noticed the transcript for Dick’s Sporting Goods third quarter stockholders report:
“...As expected, sales were negatively impacted by the continued weakness in hunt and electronics, which contributed to approximately 255 basis points comp decline. Despite these challenges, we have focused on driving profitable sales and managing our business to deliver higher earnings.”

Looks like some of the stirred up hornets are still out of the nest. Their internet sales had positive growth but in store sales were poor. I no longer buy there and the nearest store to me closed two years ago. Like Sears and other retailers, I think big box gun sellers will continue to see a decline of shoes across the threshold.

I have noticed ammo prices at BassPro and Walmart stores have been reduced by some good sales and internet sellers have had some good deals with free shipping. Prices on guns seem to be creeping down. My local gun store is higher than online but are getting closer to even when FFL fee and shipping are added in.
I may finally purchase a 9mm autoloader in the next month or so. Some solid weapons are dropping below $350, Ruger’s Security 9 being a prime example.

We all need to boycott Dicks. It has to be a concerted effort. It is easy to say "No biggie, what is my little sale going to do to them." Don't let that happen! Boycott them at all costs for even the smallest purchases. It all adds up.

I have t bought anything from Dicks since they pulled their nonsesense the first time.
After the second, I walked through one not to buy anything but to see who was shopping there. Let’s just there were more employees than customers.

I’ve also stopped shopping at Gander, REI and several others as I refuse to give money to those who woek to infringe on my rights or whoinsult me for my choices. Now I know it’s not always easy, but every time I’m tempted to go to Gander, I remember there is a local gun shop a few miles down the road that has an excellent inventory and prices are ok.

I stopped shopping there years ago because of their horrendous customer service. Their "You suck and we hate you" attitude toward gun owners hasn't inclined me in any way to go back.

Yeah I've had it with Dicks and Gander. I do go in there to fondle guns I might want to buy. If I want it I;ll hand it back and say thank you BUT I'll order from one a the local gunshops because of your corporate stance .

I stopped shopping at Dick's right after hearing their nonsense. They couldn't have let their true colors show at a better time as my kids are right at the age of needing copious amounts of sporting gear for the next 10-15 years. Their loss!

I’ve been eying the security 9 for a while. But I kind of prefer a metal framed classic to a plastic contraption. I had a Glock and it was good after I dumped a bunch of gold into it. It was durable and accurate enough for defense. But Ugly as all get out.

I've been looking at the Security 9 as well. My only semi auto is my 9mm Shield, and I'm interested in a G19 sized firearm as my house gun/general range gun with a possibility of carry.

I visited the Dick's store in Melbourne, FL. The store was quiet given that it was midday. I couldn't make out any gun prices, and there was no one around the gun counter to help. I only went in for a few minutes. My mom and I were walking around the mall and she needed to sit for a bit

Haven’t been in Dicks since their first fiasco. Don’t plan on going back any time soon, and Gander can go straight to hell-o with them.
You want to make a political statement as a retailer, you always have a chance of alienating 50% of your potential clientele. If you still want to do that, it maybe wise to evaluate your customer base, then choose your side. Better yet, maybe just hold your tongue and keep selling to both sides....

What's a Dick's?

I've been in there once like 15yrs ago because I had a small gift card. Think I bought socks.

I presume they will eventually stop selling guns altogether. It will be interesting to see if they survive at that point.

I quit shopping at Richard's back when they pulled the AR's off the shelves after sandy hook. I am ashamed to say that I was forced to purchase an item there recently, a box of Traditions projectiles for my in-line. I needed them, and they weren't available anywhere else. Forgive me.

Well if you had to go in there I hope you at least had dog poop on your shoe or mud or something to leave behind as a gift. LOL

The one time I went into one of those stores I was looking at weightlifting equipment. Which can be very high quality and very expensive. The equipment had a high price but was missing the quality-it was pretty crappy gear. Singularly unimpressed.

It's a shame that I had to stop shopping there because of their gun stance (and high prices on guns). Their fishing lures were always cheaper than Wal Mart, which is why its a shame. Oh well, they did it to themselves.

I needed a heavy winter parka and snow shoes drove right by a dicks to go to another outdoors store. I wouldn’t even consider going there.

Yep, vote with your wallet.
I'm closing this because historically these Dick's threads have ended up going downhill fast.
