my favorite LGS is actually a pawn shop. On the 7th they are having a blow out. They have a Taurus pt92af for 200 and a cw9 for 250. Obviously they are different purpose guns. I have a 92s already and a Canik C100 on layaway. So that’s a full and medium size. I don’t have a smaller nine. So there is that. But I’ve wanted the Taurus a while now.

I have a Kahr CM9 and it's a regular in my EDC rotation. Great little DAO 9mm.

Can you put the Taurus PT92 on layaway?

Is there a chance they'd take $400 for both?

About 20 years ago when I got my carry permit, the instructor was a retired cop and he used a Taurus 92 and thought very highly of it.

My dad uses a Berett 92 and loves that pistol. If you can only get one, my vote is for the Taurus.

Get the Taurus there is better options for a small 9mm many cheaper than 250

I have had my Taurus PT99 (same as 92, but with adjustable sights) for almost 30 years. It's still a good shooter. Likely I will wear out before it does.

Like OARNGESI said, $250 for a small 9mm isn't that great of a deal anyway.

At that price?

Sometimes. Maybe a tick more if new. I paid that for my CW45 a few months ago, though it was used. Bud's had 'em new for maybe $300 at the time.

But, yeah, as has been said, a $250 pocket-nine isn't a huge deal anymore. There has never been a better time than now to buy defense-oriented handguns. I can't believe what's happened to their prices.

Why limit yourself to what local lgs has. So easy nowadays to buy anything you want. Also to research online. Or, if you get and don’t like they’re not hard to sell for cost or if you fired it still close to cost. Unless your state doesn’t allow private sales. I’ll get off my soapbox though. To answer your question I’d get the Kahr so have something smaller for carry. But for same price you could buy a new Ruger EC9s which would make more sense to me.

I remember when the Kahr first came out in the 90s. I think Thompson bought them

I was one of those drooling over them when they came out. It debuted the same time as the Kel-tec P11 if you can believe it. I remember doing extensive research trying to decide between the two of them. The electroless nickel option that was briefly offered before they introduced the stainless version was my first dedicated carry pistol and it's likely the last pistol I'd ever sell.

I carried it exclusively for about a decade haven't carried it in about that long, but it would still serve that purpose well. I want to say I purchased it in '95 or '96. It has the unreinforced frame (flat frame as opposed to the later stepped frame) but it's seen thousands of rounds. I lost count at about 2k when I replaced the recoil spring the second time (for maintenance, not necessity) and it's still tight as new. It's a wonderful pistol, just perhaps on the heavy side.

As for the purchase of Kahr by Thompson, I'm pretty sure it was the other way around; Kahr purchased Thompson/Auto-Ordnance and later Magnum Research.

I don’t know what to tell you hoss.its a beretta design and they run. I’ve shot more than a few rounds through pt92 before and they seem to hold up very well. I get that they have quality control issues on some guns and have had some poor designs. But they have also made a boat load of functional guns.

They have a poor reputation for a reason. You're going to buy what you're going to buy you're going to carry what you're going to carry I've owned Tauri and I've carry guns professionally I would never trust my life to Taurus.

YMMV
