22 short, and I haven’t found a way to date it yet. There is so much misinformation out about these things that there is not a good way to even guess. I have seen references saying that these were available anywhere as early as the 50s to current guns being sold from leftover parts. I don’t know when it was made, but they sure do feel like the ones made in the 1870s, only these can actually be shot. Not to say that old ones can’t, it’s just tough to find 41rimfire ammo around at a reasonable price.
Butler Derringer, same as Colt Lord & Lady guns. I was “slumming” gunbroker looking at stuff that was near end but without bids. I ran across the little Butler and threw out a minimum bid. I have bid on several (more than double what I bid on this one) usually the ones that say Colt on the side, but not really caring. It’s just another cool and simple design that I have wanted. Well, I finally have one coming. $60 purchase, $10 shipping, $25 transfer. $95 total. No home run, but not too shabby either. I have never seen this configuration though, I usually see the two-tone in reverse configuration of this one. Not that colors matter to me... used, but supposedly good shape.
