410 Buck shot 000 from a single shot

.395 round ball and a snootfull of 2400 or H110 for a tri-ball load will devastate most things near you. If you're reloading for it, that is.

You should be fine.

I reload my own 3” shells with 5 pellets of 00 buckshot using Hodgdon H110 powder. I shoot them through my Mossberg 500 with a full choke 24” barrel. All five pellets stay within 8-9” at 20 yards.

It will be just fine!

They look just fine. BTW how far do they penetrate? 12"? Less? Unless they penetrate 12" they are a novelty.

My daughter shoots them through her smoothbore Enfield with no problems- they produce about a 3" group at 25yd through that thing, lol.
As far as performance- I sure wouldn't want to be on the receiving end. They generate a fair amount of recoil.

I run stuff like that through an old 50s Steven's 22-410 no issues.

I knocked off 5 for 5 woodchucks last summer with a box of those, in my .410 Enfield. At veggie garden distance, they were all DRT.

One, I should add, took a pellet to the jugular and sprayed a fine red mist all over the tomatoes...

My first shotgun was a NEF pardner sb1 in 410.

Not the same load as you're talking about, but the Win. 3" 000 buck load probably had more kills on the books from when I was 12-ish to 20 than any other gun I owned. They worked great and held a good enough pattern out of a full choke to put many stray and game animals down at 40 yards or less.

It appears to be the best .410 000 buck load. It generally patterns tighter than Winchester and the other brands. It will give about a foot of penetration out of a pistol, so it should be no problem out of a full length barrel.

Can't say how deep they penetrate but my Snake Charmer has dropped more than a few feral and rabid pests using #4 to 000 buck. Never had to take a second shot. Been using that Snake Charmer for pest control for over 25 years.

Love a .410!
