Wide fullers on knives

Wikipedia is telling me that a fuller is for weight savings and isn’t a blood groove, but I know that the fuller on a hunting knife will help keep blood away from the handle while gutting and cleaning. ???

isn’t a blood groove,

They never served any "blood" purpose. That's just a silly myth that guys came up with that didn't understand the forging process or value in saving weight.

If you found a fuller helped keep the grip cleaner it was coincidental. I suspect other design elements played a role as well.
