What did you shoot today?

Hi...
Yesterday morning my son and I put 200 rounds through seven different .357Mag handguns.

These were the first .357Mag reloads he has ever reloaded. I have tried to get him to reload for years but he was content to shoot my reloads. I finally got him convinced that he needed to learn how to reload.
He reloaded 250 rounds of .45ACP a couple of weeks ago and we shot all of them with no issues.
He was thrilled and immediately hooked.
We set my second Hornady progressive up for .357Mag and he did all of the die adjustments and cranked out those rounds in about an hour and a half or so, IIRC.

He would have loaded more of both calibers but I ran out of bullets.
He is talking about ordering 1000 bullets in both calibers and is already planning to buy a Dillon 650. I have two Hornady LnL progressives and I don't think we need a Dillon but he is excited about trying one out.
He seems to be happy with one Hornady set up for large primer and one set up for small primer. I told him we could get additional powder measures so we could have dedicated measures for the other calibers we shoot but he wants to see what all the hype about Dillon's is for himself.
I have plenty of space in my reloading room for another progressive press, so I suppose we will split the cost of a Dillon 650. He shoots a lot of 10mm and wants to start with that caliber on the 650 when we get it.

I may have created a monster...

I took a walk out back this afternoon. Saw three huge Fox Squirrels that took to trees. I waited and they came down low enough to shoot. 40 yards and 55 yards.

I shot the second one and scared the third out of the tree from higher up - it fell 50 feet, bounced and ran off. Weirdest thing I ever saw while squirrel hunting.

I don’t post many dead animals, but these are some large squirrels I thought I’d share. They died swiftly, I thanked them for their sacrifice, and they’ll be in the crock pot tomorrow.

The bigger one was a male with nads the size of acorns (had I known beforehand his overall size, I would’ve kept him in the gene pool). Another craziest thing I ever saw.

The rifle is a KIDD. 16” barrel. Vortex 4-16x.

I visited my son and family last week. Friday he and I went to his local range. He tried out his new Sig SP2022 9mm and out of the box at 7 yards he was grouping 2” holes. He shot 50 rounds at various distances with it and I was impressed. I shot 100 rounds through my two .45 pistols plus a couple hundred rounds through my Beretta Neos. He also shot a couple hundred rounds through his M&P 22. Altogether a good visit.

I took my brother out to some public land today so him and I could try and sight in my rifles. My AR a VX-Freedom on it and my 10/22 has a cheap NcStar scope on it. We got the 10/22 sighted in decently but once we got it close, no matter how many adjustments we made the shot wouldn’t move from about an inch to the left and and inch low. The AR was much better to dial in. We weren’t using actual targets so needless to say it wasn’t perfect but it was a good start.

First 5 shots of 2019.
Went into 3 holes from this Iver Johnson top break .38 S&W. At 3 yards, 148gr cast wadcutter, a pinch of Bullseye (one measured grain).
With a six o'clock hold on the blue dot it hits right to point of aim at 9 or 10 feet. The sub, sub velocity load was designed to afford me a little experiment with this old gun without making enough noise in the neighborhood. Some people use fireworks, I've got an old gun to 'ring in the new year' so to speak.
Happy shooting in 2019! 20190102_190248.jpg

I put ten randomly into a berm today, to see if I got my Four Fifty Bushmaster running perfectly. I did! With a ninety three thousandths gas port. Cycles with the soft loads and doesn't beat the brass with the stout ones. Were I feeling better I may have done more than just step out of the truck...:)

First 5 shots of 2019.

Nice Work! Welcome to the Forum @Five shot groupie!

I blasted a groundhog today with a CZ455 Tacticool outfitted with an AAC Element II and Mueller APV scope. “Click... Thump.” I love how quiet and accurate the setup is. It’s super fun hearing the thump of the bullet as it hits the hog.

I didn't shoot anything today because I'm waiting for the guy who is going to install the dish for getting satellite internet service.

Shot about 50 rounds through brother's 20" AR (Early 70's style I built for him) to test cycling with various magazines. Found one really worn out surplus one that just wouldn't feed properly. Even though it was cold and rainy, was still a good day to shoot.

Finished my 16 inch middy AR last night so took it out on the back deck today and ran 120 rounds through it. I love it. No twang in the buffer tube no failures no problems at all. All brass landed in about a 3 foot circle at 4 o'clock. Yes it's a PSA FREEDOM and I couldn't be happier.

Sons and brother came over today and spent time at our home range. Between the four of us we shot an LC9, a 357 New Vaquero, an Old Model 357, a Ruger American Pistol in 9m, a 1911 in 380 and sighted in a M1 youngest son had scoped. Probably shot about 400 rounds between us

Nice day here today (about 70° F) sunshine, light breeze.

Got the CZ 455 (.17 HMR) out just to check the zero on it and put a few rounds through the Browning 1911-380.

I have my own range...so easy to shoot when I desire. The CZ was dead on (as always), the Browning shoots accurately enough...but is about 3" high from POA which irritates me since there is no taller front sight available for it and almost nonexistent aftermarket support for parts.
