sent my old new to me s&w 29-4 back to smith and wesson mid October. included my email and phone. received a snail mail repair quote mailed out 12/12 and received 1 week later due to christmas rush. able to call s&w 12/22. they were closed from 12/22 to 1/2. called again 1/2 connected to voicemail of person authorizing the repairs, left my sales quote no, repair np, CC number. message said they can call only after 1/7.

called again 1/7 and connected to same voice mail but got a call back this time after a few minutes. she did get my message last week and authorized the repair last week. yeaaay!!!! at this rate i may get my gun back in a month or so , i hope.

Now that's blistering fast service. it better come back fixed.

What was wrong with it?

it had some cylinder binding with one or 2 chambers that occurs after shooting a cylinder or 2 of midrange loads. doesn't happen with dry firing snap caps.

says they will replace hammer nose bushing, repair endshake, replace hand(timing) .will have a hand assy,n&g(oversized) part. don't know what that means .

As a well known old Arkansas hound dog once said - "I feel your pain".

My experience with S&W C.S. last spring : Turnaround time of just under 3 months , poor communications with and from Mother Ship , revolver came back functioning properly- good repair work , fees were quite reasonable.

The turnaround time would have been less frustrating and more tolerable if they had given me any kind of idea what was going on ; I tried repeatedly to wring an update out of them to no avail , eventually an email with shipping notice popped up. The phone people know nothing. Never did find out much as to just what was done to my 60 , but it functions flawlessly.

All's well that ends well , you could say.

Yeah that has more or less been my experiences with S&W. Lousy communication but they get the job done sooner or later. I have twice spoke to a CS rep and convinced them to send me parts to install myself, which they were more than happy to do free of charge. I highly recommend that route wherever possible.

A few years back I had a couple of revolvers that went back for repair and they had them back to me in two weeks. What’s going on with them now? Lots of bad QC resulting in an overload of warranty work?

if they fix it in one shot , the fees would be reasonable $161.55 with shipping of which labor was 90 bucks.
