Here’s a Glock 43 that I got to play with.
After it was used to steal a vehicle, shoot at the owner, and running from the police, it was thrown in a ditch.

It functioned but was a little gritty so I cleaned it before I fired it and this is what I found.
There was a little bit of mud in the chamber.

And a little bit more inside.

This is what I got out of it.

I’m surprised that the gun functioned with all that mud inside of it.

I hate when guns are stolen and used to commit crimes. It looks new I hope yoy get to keep it.

Wow Gunny you could have planted a small garden with all the dirt that was in there!

OP, was the gun stolen? I would bet that the end user’s friend or girlfriend purchased it legally.

They should be able to resell that. Second-hand these bring almost $400. Real good deal is $350.

Nothing against you Gunny, but I see the destruction of such otherwise legal guns as stealing from the tax payers. I used to enjoy the sale of seized arms here in Florida when state law REQUIRED that they be offered for sale if the departments could not use them. Of course much of it was not much better than scrap and since it was usually an auction most things brought WAY MORE than they were worth and occasionally ther was stuff that should have been ,ummm, repaired before being auctioned, or at least have the shortened too much barrel removed or home made "can" taken off in the case of poachers guns at the Fish and Game. I enjoyed looking at such stuff though.

It is a shame, but the city is so worried that if they were sold and used in a crime that it could come back to bite them in the butt.
Sounds like a pita to me.

Who's going to have the time to auction it off, make sure it's safe and legal, and do the fbi check?
An AFT trace is ran on all guns that we pick up. All guns are dusted for prints and swabbed for DNA. Then all guns in 380 Auto, 9mm, 357 Sig, 40 S&W, 45 Auto, 5.56/223 Rem and 7.62x39 are test fired and put into NIBIN.

Why just those calibers?
Semi Autos eject cartridge cases that are left at a crime scene. Those cases are put into NIBIN along with test fire cartridge cases from the recovered guns.
There are a few other calibers go in, but not many.
In 2017 I matched up over 250 shootings. I did about the same for 2018, and I’ve matched up 3 shootings this year so far.

There should be a designated set of local FFL dealers that sell the items and retain a % of the final sale for their hassle. The rest goes back to the taxpayers in the form of offsetting the current budget for the police/sheriff.

Thats not dirty..... all of my guns look like that..... it gives them character.. I also derive a great deal of pleasure in pulling the trigger as I'm constantly studying my problem of flinching when my guns sometimes go off. :)
Some PD's in Michigan sell all their crime guns through a dealer. See SSLFIREARMS.COM. My local state police post also sells off all their confiscated guns at public auction every year. In that sale I see $200 guns sell for $500 all the time. Groan!

PS- one of the police siezed firearms auctions ends tomorrow the 8th. Just click on upcomming auctions.

At least that one wasn't butchered by a hacksaw like some of the other ones you have worked over.

The State of Wisconsin sells surplus and confiscated guns through an auction company. All the used LE Glocks in .40 you could ever want...for $400-450, plus tax, plus background, plus 10-20% buyers fee. There has never been a newer production gun sold there I couldn’t get cheaper somewhere else. Too many idiots without a clue.
