Hiya guy's ..
I've had a few katanakatana's in the past from musha to shinwa to hanwei and even though I've never been into learning to use one @ the Shaolin Temple I've always had an appreciation for nice blades and this is something that I've had my eye on for quite a while now that I finally decided to pull the trigger on. This is a hand forged Damascus carbon steel katana w/ an edge sharp enough to shave with , literally ..
I've always really liked the look of Damascus steel but I've never had a real Damascus Katana until now & I'm certainly not disappointed, the blade is real purdy' & ripples w/ finely honed layered steel that you can actually feel if you slide a finger nail down the sides of the blade. The first two things that I noticed about this katana is the flat matte carbon steel color of the blade & the additional weight of this blade as it's a little stouter and a little heavier then other carbon steel katanas I've handled and don't get me started on the cheap dime-store knockoffs and the even cheaper stainless pos's that United Cutlery is flooding the market with. All in all this is a really nice blade and I like it & now that I have it if and when I decide to buy another one it will probably be another Paul Chen hanwei.
